need help clutch adjustement big red

i cant seem to get my clutch adjusted right on my 85 big red 250 where should it be set on the increase decrese screw any help would be great

undo the lock nut,
screw in adjuster 1 round clockwise,
unscrew (counterclockwise) until you feel resistance,
screw in (clockwise) adjuster 1/8 round,
tighten down the lock nut while holding the adjuster in place.

i tried that it didnt seem to help i tried it all different spots and i just cant get it right i'm sure its the clutch it seems to have no power when i put it in gear but if i hold my foot down on the gear shift it has all kinds in first any one have an idea
