Can't figure out how to remove the cam chain tensioner. Its held on by a rivit.Below the adjuster where the tensioner mounts.Does it pop off.
I haven't a manual yet,I just bought it for $200 and it needs a new cam chain and the tensioners slightly cracked at the bottom.Do I need a new tensioner or will a new chain suffice,at least to get it running?
Also should I order a stock chain or a xr chain. 84 200x.

First off you should buy a repair manual / book for this machine. It's money WELL spent. ;)
To remove the tensioner you need to remove the bracket that it fits on. To do that the easiest you need to remove the arm and spring at the bottom. Then loosen up the adjuster ( right behind the base of the cylinder ). Once the adjuster is loosened the bracket should slide down with the tensioner. The tensioner slides right on the bracket.
Either chain will work fine. If you want a good used one and tensioner check my ebay auction ( link in my signature ). I have a set up listed for a 82 BigRed ( $0.99 starting with no current bids ). They will inner change with your machine.

yea - start by taking the mag off if you havent already
loosen the tensioner bolt all the way
the hole assembly will slide out the bottom of the hole
don't loose the two pieces in the case put thetensioner bolt back in this will keep from looseing them
you can go to bike bandit .com and use there oem parts list to see them
