I'm looking for a cheap, dependable workhorse to haul me and a small trailer for pruning tools, out to my orchard. I'd be on a few inches of snow in the winter and soft sod in the spring. I've seen honda 110's for a few hundred dollars in my area, but don't know enough about 3-wheelers to decide whether they would do the job for me. can anyone give me some advice?

I would look for a 250sx, or a 250es (big red). They have electric start, reverse, and super low first gear. I call my 250sx the tractor trike.

You may want to look for a 185cc and up ATC (or ATV).

The 110 has a single stage multi-disc auto clutch pack. This, in my opinion is for general riding and very light duty, not for hauling.

The 185cc and up has a dual stage (centrifugal and multi-disc) auto clutch pack which is for medium hauling such as carts and small trailers. Some of these even have REVERSE which is nice when you got it.

:D :D :D :D :D :D " HONDA ATC 250SX " :D :D :D :D :D :D

p.j., sx is great for yard work(automatic, reverse, elec. start)! Use mine constantly (and there's plenty of trike to play on when work is done). Chk. my other posts for more pics, and other threads on the sx for pos. feedback on them. Good Luck !!! 8)

I once hauled a 1981 El Camino 1/2 a mile with my 1983 Yamaha YTM200. Little bit much, but it did it.

if you're going to haul a little trailer a 110 will be fine. If you want to tow a heavy load then go for a 250sx or 250es(big red). 110's can go for very reasonable prices and with the low range can tow fairly well. Our 110 towed better than our 200M because of the low range and the 200 M was geared too high. a 250sx can tow but can also play, so if you want to go riding after working then this is the best choice.

Id agree, for hauling pruning tools in a small trailer the 110 will be just fine. A friend of mine has one with a hitch just for the purpose of moving his trailored boat around. If your pruning turnes into cutting down trees, then Id say you need the 250SX.

If you want something that will work until it runs out of gas AND keep you excited on the trails.......Look into the Honda 250SX or "Big Red" 250ES". You also may want to look @ a Yamaha 225DR or 225DX/

The SX is the perfect choice. The 110 is good too, but someday you might need the extra power/traction/weight of the SX, and you can play and have more fun on the SX. ;)

I've got a dx 225 that I might be interested in selling. Take a look at the link under my name for pics of it.

thanks for all the good advice. I think I'll keep on looking at 110's since I don't need a play bike, but I won't pass up a bargain on a 250sx or 250es.

250es's are awesome for work, i don't know a better trike for that except for the 250sx, i have a yamaha ytm 200 that i would sell to you for $300 it will do the jobs you want without a problem
