Well I have been looking around all month for a new rig to keep up with my wifes 400ex since my 200x isn't cutting it. I have looked at local bikes and most are trash for the money. So last night I bid on ebay what I think was a pretty good buy on a 250r in need of a little cleaning up. This is the item number 4540272840. So now I need to see some pictures of Rs in different colors. I was thinking of a color change just to be different. Is there a way to fix the faded gas tank? Can you die the plastic? Finally what little preformance stuff can I do to get it to run a little harder? Oh and one more thing suggested oil and ratio? I have been running synthtic valveoline in my jetski.

There has been other threads on the 250R gas tank. I followed them and they worked. You can sand the white fade right off. It takes time to do a nice job. I used between 400 and 1000 grit. The lower you start with the coarser the more you have to sand with the finer to get it smooth. (the coarser may be for some light gouges) Then I rubbed it with fine steel wool for forever and a day. You can then put plastic Renew on it but i didnt do that yet. The picture shown has a little armor all. It matches the new factory plastic nicely. Congrats on the R and I like the Maier protectors. I just bought a set off ebay--Playing the waiting game for them to arrive.

you can sand the tank (see below) then use some plastic renew to get that shine back :D

Can you die or paint the tank to change the color? I can't wait to woop on some sport quads.
