I'm running out. My mom won't let me get one because they are too dangerous. I keep trying to explain to her, but it isn't working. I think It is because I'm 16 and my word has no meaning. Maybe if she heard it from an adult...

What kind are you trying to get?

Are you wearing a helmet in that picture? If not, that's your 1st mistake right there.

An inanimate object is exactly that. It is only as safe as it's handler.
Like those accidental shooting stories that the media loves to report..."Mr blah blah was cleaining his gun when it 'went off ' and the bullet hit a bystander...." The point is, guns do not "go off" or just "discharge". They are fired by a person. 3 wheelers do not ride off and crash. People crash them either attempting maneuvers beyond their ability/skill, or simply being stupid.

Prove you're responsible and safe, and that you are willing to accept and handle that responsibility. Driving a car and doing so on public roads is much more dangerous than responsibly riding a 3 wheeler while wearing your safety equipment. If you are old enough to drive a 4000+ pound machine on a public roadway, then you can CERTAINLY handle a 3 wheeler on terrain that you are comfortable with.

Good luck

tell her thier safer because thier is one less wheel and thats a less of a chance to hit something.she might believe you

^^^ that's what I was thinking about doing, and I think that is what I am going to do.
It is an '85 200x for only $250. It runs and drives perfectly, nothing wrong with it except, no front brack, no headlight. Engine was just rebuilt not 1 week ago by a professional. He had a reciept, costed him nearly $500. The plastics is in great condition, only one hoe in it, from the tail pipe melting it.
That is very true though, I am not wearing a helmet in that pic. I do have a helmet, and 95% of the time I am wearing one. It has saved my life once before, I'm taking no chances. I wasn't wearing one in that pic because my uncle does not have one, and I was at my uncles house. He just got it and I was just messing around with it.

BTW: I am NOT telling you where this trike is, lol

thats a hell of a find  i wish i could find someone getting rid of a 200x for $250.

you should ask your mom if you can get it just to park it until she thinks you are responsible enough, cause you might not run across a deal like that again for a very long time.

ps ill give the guy $250, and you $100 for being that middle man :naughty:

A few reasons why I prefer trikes:
Lighter (95% of the time) which means easier to control, maneuver and load.
NO comparison when it comes to steering....a trike can and will whip a circle on the trail and in the woods in a MUCH smaller circle than a quad.
Ease of maintenance and parts availability.

I got mine for $400 3 years ago. Still have it. There's one by the freeway at some used car 'deal' place in the back all flat but I'm not sure the guy will sell it. Punk never got back to me. Btw, who has reverse gear on their trike? Why won't you say where it is if you can't have it? Or ask a friend to buy it then buy it from him/her. You know, a straw man purchase. Is that legal for trikes?

Go on ebay and show her how much they're worth. Women can't resist a sale after all. Maybe this will trigger the same response. :D

My boys have ridden three-wheelers since first grade. There 15 and 16 now and still ride them.
Sure us parents worrie, and thats good. But we need to realize that our kids have skills and abilities that are amazing. Plus the good common sence that we have tought them.
Triking is a great sport that is controlled by it's riders. If you ride it and not the other way around youll be fine. Just use your head and skill. Then youll have years of fun in your future. Good luck............................. :D

Give one of your buddie's the money to get it for you and keep it at their house for a while...or until you move out of your parent's house and can do what you want. ;)

All you have to hide it for is 2 years. That is long enough to save for first last and deposit on a place to live. Move out the day you turn 18. Believe Me it is worth it !!!!! You're not really living life if you are sucking on mommy's tit!

Nothing like a Trike, baby!!!

UPDATE:
My dad busted in my bedroom while I was sleeping this morning, and asked me why I wasn't dressed(with a serious face). I said "we don't go to church or anything...". Well he told me that I was supposed to get up to go show him where that guy lives so he could go get "his" 3 wheeler. About that time he had a huge grin. Fastest I've ever gotten dressed. So, he bought it, because my B-day is May 7. But what kills me is, that I can't ride it until May 7. Which doesn't bother me, considering it 4 days to get my mom to say yes. Look for my topic.

You did good, Bassman.
Remember....USE YOUR HEAD.
Don't make your parents regret letting you get your trike.
I've ridden them for YEARS and not once gotten hurt.
You can do it, too.

Best of luck on your new trike!

May 7 will be here before you know it.

Will your dad let you detail and maintain (fluids, filter(s), lubing, checking, adjusting, replacing, etc.) it before May 7?

Well, he let me ride it  .
I think he is being leniant with not letting me ride. Boy, do I love this thing. Plenty of torque to get me up some of the good hills behind my house. Going through the field though is a little bumpy. I don't know how to fix this and all. The more I "get into" this trike, I find more and more stuff to tell me he actually has been taking care of it.
Got it a muddy and all. Going over logs is nothing with this machine. After you don't make it over once, just push back gas it again.

This is true and have done this myself.
You know when to put your leg down and when not to.

Well, after the last 2 days of riding, I can safely say.....

WHAT THE HECK HAVE I BEEN MISSING!?!?

I have been thoroughly converted to 3 wheels. There hasn't been 1 quad I have ridden that is as much fun as this 200x, not even my buddy's 400ex. I haven't found anything that can stop this thing(i'm sure that'll change soon though, lol). OMG what a blast!
Hell, even loading the thing is easier than 4 wheelers. I *could* do it by myself if I really needed too, but 2 men makes it a snap(I don't have ramps). I just have my partner get onto my bed, and I lift the front end up to him, and he keeps it balanced as I lift the back end onto the bed.
Another plus, is the looks I get with this on the back of my truck. People stare.

i am glad you got it. i am 25 and when my mom comes over i still have to put up all the three wheelers or she has a fit. never been hurt on one but she has heard too me stories. a 200x is a great starter trike. very dependable and one of the most stable three wheelers made. if you like the way that thing drives wait to you get your hands on one of the big three ( 250r tri-z tecate ).

So are 2 wheelers, 4 wheelers, cars, trucks, planes, helicopters, guns, kitchen knives, pointy sticks, scissors, lighters, matches and just about anything else if your not trained and experienced.

3 wheelers were sooooo dangerous they had to place an import ban on them to save us.
How many people have been injured on quads since then?

Q: By the way you guys know what the leading cause of death/injury is in the united states?

A: Medical mistakes and/or wrong diagnosis and treatment.

I dont know if its true but read it in a magazine (in the emergency room ironically)

Sounds about right though........

Yeah, medical mistakes cause 1000 times more accidental deaths than guns but you don't see anyone trying to ban doctors.
