The headlight on my 84 200s is bright when you first start riding, but gradually gets dimmer after about 15 minutes or so. Eventually you can barely see it. Anybody know whats causing this? I swapped out the whole assembly with another one, and the same thing happens with it. Is there a seperate charging system for the lighting?

Is it much trouble to check & see if it is the lighting stator causing this?

You can use a Ohm Meter to check the windings in the stator. Check the stator cool and warm, sometimes the windings test differently.. The manual should give you the normal specifications..

It could also be the voltage regulator or rectifier.. As for testing them you will have to consult your manual.

Does sound like as it warms up, the power is dimming.

Seems like in old magazines, they said that the 200X has a larger capacity lighting coil unit. That a 'hop-up' was to put the 200X coil in to a 185/200S to brighten your lights. Keep that as an option if you do need to replace it!
