I am triyng to get the rear end bearings out of this 350X carrier, and also the swingarm pivot bearings, so far I have only taken steps backwards. I heated the carrier up, and then slide a blunt chisel from the other side and aligned it with the bearing, I smacked it once real hard and the inner race shattered and the balls went everywhere, Now I am stuck with the other race seized in the carrier, I really dont know how in the hell to get it out, as there isnt much space to work with, So I am going to get the dremel and cut the race in pieces and smack it out, Unless someone else has some tips on removing it.

Next problem is the pivot bearings, again, soaked in a good penetrant and tried pounding out.. Nothing.

So, it looks like I need some help.

do you have acess to a hydrolic press? if you dont you can just take it to the local bike shop or what ever and pay 20$ and have them out in 5 min...sometimes thats just easier than trying to cut them out, or just use a chisle and a hammer and wack it real hard...should come out if out if you wack it hard nuff..eh

Get someone with a welder and lay a bead along the race. The heat and weld shrinks it up (Makes it smaller of course) and it will more then likely fall out after that is done. If you dont want to do that, good luck on beating the hell out of it heh.

Alright, bearing carrier problem is solved, cut them in half and smacked them out. Now onto the pivot bearings.

I think there is a removable spacer tube between the bearings. Find a deep well socket the same size of the bearing with an extention and start driving away. If you don't want to abuse your tools like that then do as said before and spend a couple bucks and get them pressed out.

This is good gouge! I was left with a hopelessly stuck outer race with smashed inner race. I read this post, ran a bead around the inside, and it tapped out almost effortlessly. Thanks.

Cheers,

Old trick my dad taught me. Works like a charm everytime :) Glad it helped you out.

I went to princess auto and got a " Blind Bearing Puller " ... a bit costly but man does it ever work well.

Basically a big slide hammer with a expanding 2 leg pawl ... pretty slick.

I have 3 different ones. Junk on bearings that were as bad as the ones on this 350. LOL.
