looks like the 90 tank is a little larger,it may look a little better than the skinny tank of the atc70s.i tried on a 82 z50 tank and it looked good, but the grommets were in the wrong place big time! just thinking of a way to make it a little different.....

what tank is on yours[the one in the piccture beside your screen name]. doesnt the z50 tank look awesome on the 70...should have been factory on it.the roundness of the z50 tank matches the fenders better, also fits at the front of the seat better too.only thing i dont like about it is you can see the coil and wires more, like the tank isnt deep enough or something, guess we could move that up a little too.actually the grommets dont need moved much do they....guess we'll good looking 70's that run bad[dont you need an engine too?]

I have 2 diffrent 70s and i am looking for a engine, the bike pictured has a original 70 tank on it my other project is the one im thinking about a z50 tank on ,i just restored a z50 and have a extra tank from it and just thought one day imma put it on there and see how it looks,i like it but like ya said it dosent hang down as low as a stock 70 tank to cover the bikes backbone but i think im still gonna use it.

me and you must have fell of the same turnip truck.....i redid a 86 z50r awhile ago,was basically in a box that i had for ever.i bought a barely running79z50 and had some other parts donated, and still had to buy parts!i tried to sell the redone 86,put it in my yard for an ungodly $950,a guy offered $750,couldnt bring myself to sell it though, ive had it since 88-89 roughly.probably should have sold it...i thought the one in the picture looks different than mine, maybe not though.my 70 is an 82,looks great, needs 3rd gear though.how would you get fuel from the z50 tank to the carb, use 2 petcocks[one at the new tank, other at the carb on the 70?] i was thinking of a fitting with a 1/4 nipple then a inline fuel filter then use the petcock on the 70 carb and i guess leave it in the on position?

I am gonna just seal up the one petcock nipple with a automotive vacum plug on the motor petcock and have the petcock on the tank to and just leave the tank one on all the time,im stil unsure 100 % if im gonna use the 50 tank or the 70 tank.

heres my z 50 i redid it was a total basket case its now 77cc

both look great! my 50 is a little different[mainly color and #plates] got to say your 70 is pretty hot! are they the alum rims that are on ebay? i just got regular knobbys from the local tractor supply store.theyre only $16 each, and work great.i also used them on a trx 70 resto i did. xr looks good too, that was my first "big" bike 85 xr100 brand new! whooo hooo,i was like 10-11,man i thought that was the fastest bike on the planet!

yea there the ebay alum wheels, i need one more for the front and it will even it out the way it looks now without the front i dont care for it,the lil 70 in the pic is down on compression it dosent wanna start no more :( ill stumble across a replacement motor for it eventually i just cant see spending 200 bucks for a top end for it.

I just bought that xr before xmas its a good putzing around the woods bike,my true love is my 03 blaster though"o no a 4 wheeler haha"

one of these days im gonna get a 4 wheeler...with elec.start, and reverse, unlike the 350x! i'll run it till it blows up,or trans goes out or something major.being a honda guy[though ive owned kawasakis] i would get a 2005 400ex.since it now has reverse.friends have z400's.nothing wrong with them either.they run the crap out of them, rarely do any maintenence and are still going.but theyre only 2 years old.i still think its hard to beat a air cooled honda engine as far as reliablility, especially since i keep my machines for a looonnnggg time. i,ll keep you posted if i find a motor for our 70's...
