Can you change the oil side crank seal in a Tri Z without splitting the cases?

How about the ignition side?

Thanks

yep, doing mine wednesday night
left side , pull flywheel, remove stator, pry out with a screwdriver
lube the new one up real good, use a deep socket to drive home
right side. remove clutch cover, clutch basket, remove crank/waterpump gear
then there is a +screw with a metal holding thingy holding the seal in behind the clutch basket,
once out pry out with a screwdriver the seals are like $8 each

if you dont get it going PART IT OUT!!! :p

Thanks Nathan...I did get the Z running. Probably alot of excess oil in the crank was making everything super rich.

I suspect a bad oil side crank seal....and will change both sides. I'll probably take it to a shop.

Its going pretty damn good now. I will say that once this crank seal leak is fixed I have no doubt that my 86 Z (stock) is very very close if not equal to stock low hour 86 R in power....we will have to see when I get them side by side and can ride them back to back.

A broad powerband (as found in the Z) can be deceiving!
