The 350X rear shock is just over 14 1/2 in from center hole to center hole. The top is 1 in wide by 1 1/4 deep. The bottom is 1 1/8 wide ID and just under 1 3/4 wide OD, and 1 1/8 deep. I am not sure if an R has the same bracket that the 350X has on the bottom of the shock.
thanks alot for the reply. im about to bid on this 350 shock for my 250. im thinking it might work. i appreciate your help rich.

I seriously doubt it will work.... 84R has that arched bottom link in the Pro-Link suspension. I'd advise you to jut get the correct shock for the application. You can get aftermarket springs for the rear shock from Progressive suspension too. I know a couple people who have put a 350X in a 200X with some major bracket mods, but never heard anyone try to put a 350X in a 250R before.
thanks for your input. i just found 3 84r shocks on ebay. hopefully i pick up one of them. max

That was his first choice, but i know he's been looking for a while, and they arent easy to come by! The early R's dont seem to have any good substitutes, but if somebody ever finds one, I hope they let everyone know.
