Plastic can still be bought brand new from Maier. A lot of online places have decent deals on it.

Being new to trikes and starting off with a 250R, you might want to locate a stock thumb throttle instead of a twist.

Oh yeah, don't put your foot down. Ever. :D

Welcome to the forum its a cool place and everyone here is always eager to help. far as parts ebay is a godsend, and safety my advise is PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, and wear a helmet.

I am curious, I was wondering how old you are? (If you dont mind telling)
Are you still in school or graduated already?
After buying my son a 3 wheeler I took him into the woods in a area with very dense tree's and told him to ride around SLOW in and out of the trees and he just weaved and zig zagged all day in and out of the tree's. He learned how to turn and control the bike properly and slowly increased the speed till he just is great now and rides circles around most people on any machine.

1. learn control
2. learn more control
3 worry about speed after you learn control
4. wear a helmet
(alot of you guys are still young pups, but the tree's still harder than your head)

Just my opinion...........

Twist throttle .. and a sticking carb !!! Phew... get a helmet for your helmet !!! !!

Check the condition of the sprokets and the tension of the chain.. tighten if needed....

check the frame for cracks carefully.. get this welded if you find any... don't want a frame snaping on your ( hey .. you paid 50 $...something has got to be wrong !! LOL )

Brakes.. you got brakes ? i don't care what everyone tells you.. you need brakes !!

Don't forget to MIX THE GAS .!! it's a 2 stroke ! <-- hey. you did say you were new to this !! hahahaha... ( i'm sure it happens ! )

Check the tranny oil.. might want to give it a fresh change !

and..

good luck ! and ride safe !
