yes i was riding and it just died and would not restart and it backfires when i kick it . it was running perfect until it died?

what model / year / etc.. is it ?

Chances are, If you can still get it over, it is not blown. Two strokes as a dendancy to sieze when they go out. If it is simply wore out most likely you will have little or no compression. Do a compression test and see what happens.

What model machine is it? Spark? Fuel? Compression?

what kind of trike do you have? In most cases there is a great loss in compression, or the rings could have siezed. Does it seem like it is easier to kick now?

yamaha tri z 82 i never had a bike that was running perfect die while i was riding it then not restart except once and i blew it up . what is the backfire when i try kicking it over? thanks to everyone for the help im lost on 2stroke engines!!!

Did you check the obvious stuff like carb and plug?

I would start with a new plug and compression test. That will at least get you a starting point.

ive replaced plug checked for fire dont have a compression tester yet what should it be?

I had 130 on mine when it was freshly rebiult. I think it can be as low as 80 if I remember coreclty.

why are there two fuel shut off valves in the fuel line i think this may be the problem

Hhahahaha. I love it when new Z owner discovers that. It freaked me out as well when I first found that out. Just make sure they are both open and maybe your trike will start. I did no think to mention that earlier.

2 shut-off ?... factory installed ?

Actually, one is a reserve switch and the other is a shut off valve. What may have happened (which is common so do not feel bad) it may have run out of fuel and one switch was not in the proper position.

i took the hose from the last valve to carb off at first when i kicked no gas then i swapped the position on the first and finally got gas to trickle hooked it back up and it still wont crank but the backfiring has stopped my legs gonna fall off i kicked so much and before i didnt even have to stand up it was so easy yes im still confused and the more i kick the the more aggrevated i get . is there an actual fuel pump or is it gravity or what thanks everyone for your info!!!

It has a vacumed powered fuel pump.

would it hurt to blow air back thru the last valve before carb to gas tank to see if it is clogged?
