i been have a leaky cock on my tank so i took it off today.
i was planning on just wrapping it with teflon tape. (the stud on the tank)
i checked my manual but there was no breakdown of the petcock just a picture of the whole thing.
when i pulled the valve out the strainer bag stayed in and i tried a small oring on there and it fit perfect.
so i left the oring and tefloned the stud, and it doesnt leak anymore. :Bounce
anyway, does it supposed to have an oring on there or just some teflon to seal the threads.
i would have asked before i put it back together but i was in a hurry.

its a complicated system but theres suposto be a inner tube, and an oring between the tube and tank. On one of my tanks it was leaking, and i just droped an oring inside the nut part of the petcock, and screwed it on. Its been workin fine since.

Here is a diagram of it.

The o-rings you may be using will work fine for a while but I do believe for gas the stock one might be of a special rubber compound to resist the gas better.
