Got my SX head pipe back from the coaters. Had it high temp coated along with the heat shield. For the back half (megaphone) I sprayed it with some high heat paint. Hopefully the header finish will hold up. I'm not bettin money on the back half ;)

Looks great now but from my own experience it doesn't hold up well with offroad abuse.

Looks like you got some bling bling on that SX. Is it an SX-R because of a R front end?

is that a 350x supertrapp on there?

john- yes ceramic coated, it was a facility in Ottawa Kansas called R.M.I. Inc.
They had it 2 weeks. They seem to do alot of commercial jobs so I'm sure little stuff like this ranks pretty low. Cost me $48.00 for the headpipe and shield. My quote from Jet Hot was $90 + shipping.

Oldschoolin- yeah, I'm curious about the longevity as well.

Wheeliepop- I just called it SX-R because I couldnt think of anything better! and the front fender is from a 85-86 250R

Bigcrip- I talked to the tech service folks at Supertrapp and they said that the megaphone & muffler are from a 79-81 Honda XL/XR250 dirtbike.

The super trapp I am extremely interested in.

Did you ever fool with the disc for power or noise control?

Is it terribly loud the way you have it now?

..........almost forgot, whole set up looks sweet!

Huffa- I tried fewer discs once, it will quiet down that way but I didnt have a chance to really evaluate the effect on power. Supposedly, less discs will add bottom end and more help the top end. IMHO SX's have plenty of bottom end and where I ride noise is not an issue so I run all 14 discs. The guy that had the trike before me had it jetted with the 14 discs and the K&N and it seems to work well, Its a 140 main jet (stock is 130) it is slightly fat but I prefer that to slightly lean.
Heres what it sounds like at 3/4 throttle in 5th gear...

You noticed that eh? Yep, I find myself doing that at times, I'll back off the throttle a bit and lift the shifter then I remember I'm already in 5th. The 20" tires aggravate that issue but in reality I dont need to be going much faster than that anyway (and I'm rarely in 5th gear) as I mostly ride wooded trails and pasture. :beer

johnI wasn't really talking about nicks so much, it stains up and wears real quick it you ride somewhat hard. I'd never let a friend get it again. I bet that spray can stuff is just as good.
