Well, its starting to look like a nice Tri-Z. Still does not run. This is what a $2000 Tri Z looks like! I bought it off the boards about a year or so ago for $300. It was in Michigan. The owner met Howdy half way to pick it up for me. Howdy was going to see Tri Z Jim to pick up a "secret" project, and was going to bring it to me. Howdys truck broke down, and Tim SR. saved Howdy and stored my Z until Howdy got a new ride. In the meantime, They both were emailing me telling me that I had "alot of work ahead of me!" I was not looking forward to seeing this pile of junk, wich is Exactly what it was! BUT, it was an 86 and at the time, there were only 2 or 3 known to exist on the boards. Finally, Howdy got a new truck and headed east, picking up my new project on the way at Tim Sr's. He drove it all the way here in the winter on an open trailer, and when he arrived at my office, I was pretty scared of this thing. Covered in road grime and salt (it was still winter), no rear wheels or hubs, rusty as heck, like it had been sitting outside for years! LOL. I dragged it home and TRIED to tear it down, but it was so rusted awayand had so much missing-I think it had been parted. that I had to bust out the sawzall. 3 swingarms, 3 motors and....well,,,,, To make a long story short, there were many people that I owe thanks to for helping me get this far. THey are.
MBG75, MikeFrom LongIsland, Howdy, TimSR, TRIZTUNES, F2 Fabrication, 84250R, TriZBrian, MotorFixation, YTZ250#1,HYGEAR Motorsports,Jared at Speed and Sport Yamaha, and even my local stealer Lanes Yamaha of Watkins Glen, NY. It has been a long road, and still not even close to being done. Im sure I forgot some people that helped me out with info..sorry about that! well, here she is as of 3-21-05 been at it over a year and $2000, but I will rescue this trike!

Looking good Trikeaholic! You've set a few goals for this Tri-Z & it looks like you're working your way there. As George Bush Sr. said, "It wouldn't be prudent at this juncture...to give up. Stay the course...a thousand points of light." I think that applies in this situation.

ok, before pic. This picture does not even come close to how bad it was. the bottom end was totally stuck, foot pegs were homemade, swingarm had steel plates welded to it, brakes were all wrong, axle and carrier were shot, missing airbox, seat foam was junk, Red rad scoop missing, cobbled up handlebars, basically, it was a frame and junk motor, thats it.

WOW...what a diffrence. Although tellin from the before pic I can see it did not have that rough a life. Except for pretty much everything stripped from it. It seemed to be in half decent shape. I've seen and have bought worse. Nice job!

I hope Howdy and Sr. chime in on that! It was a complete wreck, believe me. The only thing that was good was the transmission, forks and triples, frame, and front wheel, also one radiatior scoop, the red fake airbox was also good. The rest of it was scrapped and replaced. No lie. the only part of that before pic that is the same is the frame, forks, airbox cover and rad scoop front rim, and shock.

I used the foam, thats it. Most everything was peiced together from multiple junk parts to get the best end product.

Job well done,Holic. I built my ' 82 250R the same way. I wouldn't even want to guess, how many different bikes donated a part or two to build it.

Thanks for the compliments, hope it is ready for TF. Might be an all Yamaha year for me this time. Lil Holic on his Zinger, and I will bring the Z and the famous full suspension Tri moto 175. (as long as I can find a trailer! again!)
