I just bought a 83' big red of my friend for 200 dollars, its in excellent condition, hasnt been taken out of the garage for about 7 years, Plastics are perfect, butttt
i was wondering what i can do to make muh trike go fasssttteeeerrrrrrrrrrr.
can someone give me some ideas?
and another thing...this is the only thing wrong with it, when i ride the bars always pull to the left. What could this be? cause its been getting very annoying. When i turn right the whole thing feels like it wants to flip. any ideas? lol thanks guys

Bigger tires are the only thing I know of that will make it faster, if you pipe it and put a cam in it, it will be quicker but not faster, the Big Red is a utility trike and it is not made to go fast or be racer, Lets admit it dosnt handle worth a crap, this is because it is made to putt around, if you want somthing faster like I have said in previous posts, you will be better off getting a 350X, Tri-Z, 250R, or Tecate, these were made to handle high speeds or handle around corners and bends. There suspension is far superior to the Big Reds and made to handle high speed type of riding and still be safe and feel comfortable on it.
Yep
Like he said, 200e is a steamroller, can be handy for flattening out tracks, also suitable for securing tents to on a windy day.
May benefit from a high top piston as fitted to 200X stock piston is low compression 7.8:1 where as 200x is 9.6:1
Other than that get a 200X or 350x!!

the pulling problem might be tire pressure or mix match size rear tires, it shouldn't pull even though it is a utillity atc.more power? go old school..run with no air box cover and the remove the spartk arrestor, taller rear tires, crouch low when winding er out, install a rocket, hitch it up to a 350x.

I say enjoy it for what it is... a utilty trike. Now it is chain drive, so you could alter the teeth on your sprockets to "gear it' faster, but really, who needs to go that fast on a Big Red?
As far as the pulling, check for bent forks, or if both hubs are driving. I had the rear hub on my 82 BR wear out to the point that it just spun inside the hub on the Right side. It would turn great to the Right, but not to the Left. as only the Left rear tire was driving.
Shoot up some pics of it. I wish I could find a nice 82-83 Big Red. That's what I first had here on the farm as a kid. We had a 82, then bought a 2nd one (83), both brand new. I rode the tires off the 82. The 83 was my "Dad's" and it had a bad engine seal and was leaking oil so it got parked in the shed. Time went buy and I went to college and moved to GA and MI and kind of forgot about it. It ahd sat in the shed for about 10-12 years when my sister's brother-in-law asked my Dad about it. He gave it to him... then he looked at it and said it need all new seals and gaskets from sitting so long... not sure what he did with it, probably took to the dump. I didn't know about it until a year or two later when I moved back to NY and it wasn't there anymore.
