I picked my wifes 400EX today. I rode it and man it pulls hard. I haven't had that rush in a long time. I guess the 200 X just aint gonna cut the musturd. I will have to get a 350 X or God forbid a Quad. For all you guys that PMed me the have a lot of Hondaline stuff at the dealer ship. I think I saw a 350X headlight guard and asked about the speedos He had some used ones and a new one for a 250sx that he though may fit a 200 with the right stuff. Oh well I don't really care now I am lusting for a quicker trike to fill in my speed need. Oh hell maybe I will just put paddles on my BBC camaro and take it to the dunes.

Ya I want a 250R but I am scared of 2 strokes. I am kinda partal to 4 strokes, so convince me otherwise. Can I run one wide open for 10 miles riding it from farm to farm?

I am afraid to build one, I am in the middle of a BBC camaro build up for like the last 5 years. I want a quick one to tinker with that runs.

I don't think I'd do that on a 2 OR a 4 stroke.

Dammit I have done it on a 200X maybe not WOT but at least 3/4 or more.
Just got done rebuilding a LT1 383 for a coworks 95 camaro( still tuning the computer), now a 350 for my cousins 84 1/2 ton, then a tbi 350 for a buddies 38 buick street rod. This is all while trying to finish my 12 to 1 427 for my 80 camaro and waiting till my $2500 beater work truck dies and needs a engine ( 190K 90 chevy runs good 30psi oil pressure). That is why I want something to make quicker not fix to run. I have a good understanding of 4 strokes and like just being able to pull up to the fuel barrel. I do have a jet ski (with a planed head , a impeller, ride plate, and intake grate) so they don't really scare me I just don't want a piston eating, hot running, trouble maker. That doesn't mean I don't want a 250R (I look on ebay everyday for one and try and figure how to ship it here) I just want it to be the best thing for my needs ( I really need a rubicon but what fun is that).

Dammit!

Well you could haul ass on the R even if it isn't wide open. You have to keep in mind they're considerably faster than a 200x even at a cruising speed. I personally don't like keeping any small engine at a constant RPM for long. Makes me uncomfortable so I just change it up a bit.

Either the R or a 350x sounds like it would suit you pretty well though.

Cool now find me one or the other cheap. Hey while I was at the dealership waiting on them I saw a 85 hondaline catalog that listed a 300R kit for the 250R. I didn't konw they exsisted. I picked up a brochure for the 85 hondaline that lists lot of accesorys and what fits what model. It just suprises me what stuff they have sitting around.

All right everyone the number is 402 729 2294. I had a bunch of guys PM me and ask me to buy them and send them to them or what ever. I am sure I am a dick by doing this but call the dealership and have them send them to you. I know this may be your guys hobbie or passion or collection but between riding, getting ready to plant, my other projects and my real job I really have very little time. Now for you guys to do something for me. Tell me what a fair to good condition 86 200x is worth. It needs plastic to be perfect and has a oil leak from the rocker box. I rode it today and it still runs very good but it is time for a bigger rig. I need to get a idea of what would be a fair price without being crazy.

On a properly built 250R you will not need to hold it WIDE OPEN for to long before at some point the pure fear of flipping that son of a ***** over and getting to go for an ambulance ride starts to set in!!! I tell you what that thing is a thrill ride. I have an '85 250R that I took to the frame and rebuilt the whole bike original ,Powder coat,New Honda Plastic,Chrome......everything.. I got over $5000 in it. but when I go out and ride it at the local riding spot all of thoes quad riders give it RESPECT. I ride my buddies 350X or Sams 200X which is worked up but they just don't feel fun to ride. NOTHING LIKE A 2 STROKE. Although other than just a thrill ride, it is really a useless bike. You cant ride it around with a group of beer drinking buddies through the mud or haul anything with it, or ride it around the neighborhood like the four wheelers do. They are to loud and fast for that. You cant grab your fishing pole and ride it to the lake. They are just for fun. It seems for you though that for what you describe you want to use it for you would be best with a 350X Good luck with whatever you decide

I guess I must be getting old. All yesterday while riding my X and trading off to the 400EX I thought, I hate that loud muffler on that three wheeler. I also was thinking I needed the fastest and the best. Now I think if it will keep up with the 400ex or just a little better that will be good enough. Something I can ride next to my wife and B.S. then blow off toward whatever. The other thing is the thought of mixing fuel doesn't excite me. I know for big time power thats what I need. I think a 350X will be good if I can ever find one. I also still use my 200X to do farm stuff when my dads TRX300 isn't around (check the piviot, run between farms) so what ever I get better be able to handle a little mud running and some hard miles.

If you like the 400ex for power you'll like a 350x. They are very close in power.

I think the 400 pulls hard. It still even scares me a little, which is good. My 200 only scares me when I have to push it real hard to jump or what ever. I am sure even the 400 will became slow but if a 350 will keep up and be a good riding partner I will have to try and find one.

is the 400EX stock?

For right now. I was looking at pipes and stuff and I wife used some curse words followed by "We have only had it 1 day I we aren't getting speed parts for it already". I never even said anything, she must know me too well.

i'm the same way,i can't leave anything stock,lol.

i can't belive you think a stock 400ex pulls hard,i thought the one i rode was a turd!!!
my one buddy has a 440 ex and that things runs pretty well, still can't hang with the 250r though.sounds like a 350x is what you need.be prepared to spend 15-1800 for a nice one.

I guess I must be a bit of a puss then I am used to 200X, rubicons and utiltily quads. I think the 400EX pulls a lot harder than my X and has really good torque. Maybe pulls hard is a little over blown but I think it runs good.

mine pulls hard, but it took me a while to get it that way (jetting, gearing, discs in the pipe, blah blah),,,they are a lot of fun to mess with and parts are plentiful for the EX,,,i know what you mean on not leaving it stock, mmine staying stock for a whole week before i started hopping it up,,,,later

Discs in the pipe? You must be talking about a aftermarket pipe right? What was the BEST mod? I think I will just push her to get paddles and when she is ready we will soup it up. She already said it is too quite. My 200Xs parts avaliblity leave a bit to be desired.

White Bros E series pipe and K&N jet kit, K&N air filter with EHS Racing lid were the best, put a 45 pilot jet end that helped low end too,,,got some pics of when it was a week old i'll post, the 3rd pic is with the DG stuff on it and the Douglas wheels with Holeshot's pipe, Renthal bars, and lotsof other stuff i can't remember, the first is after race cut plastic and 250R hood, radials and Razr MX's 36T rear sprocket, the second is the EHS lid,,,
