starter troubles 1985 big red 250

When I push the starter button I hear a loud click from the solinoid, the starter does not try to engage, the battery is fine, and i checked the starter gears(only because the last time this happened the gears were missing teeth) Any easy test to determine if its the starter or solinoid? Thanks in advance

you can jump the selenoid by running a wire directly from the battery to the starter motor.. if it turns over.. you found your problem.

if it still does not turn over then it's the motor brushes or the motot itself..

Sounds like a loose wire-make sure your connections are tight and clean.
