Not sure about the first question, but I believe they are. The answer to your second question is no, the '85's are 39mm the 83/4's are 36mm. To answer the third question - you should replace the upper fork tube on the bent fork - however - if its only slight, you can try loosening the upper tree clamps and remove the axle and then turn the upper tube 45 degrees outward. This will cause the tube to now flex out but the axle assembly clamp will pull it back in when you tighten it back down. This is really a band-aid fix and you will eventually wear out the fork seals anyway from the added side pressure.

Check with a motorcycle shop about straitening it. I checked a few years ago with a local shop about straitening the forks on my street bike and they said it would be almost $100 for both. Mine were both bent a good amount though.

If you want to use the 85 tubes, you need to use the 85 trees also.

83-86 i believe used the same tubs and bolt patterns so thats that question, but to use the 39mm forks * must use the trees also, then you must also use a 85 86 R head light because they dont have the holes for the light gaurd to carry the light of the 83 style i think.

thanks for the info I was thinking I would need to use the 85-86 trees. Guess I'll have to find a complete or just put another set of 83-84 forks. Thanks again!

I got a set of 83R forks here.... the one fork is stuck down, but the other is fine. The "banned and nameless" took the guts of them for a 350X, so they have the 350X innards (I think)....
