Hello everyone, i recently bought a 200 Honda 3-wheeler. It ran extremely well for how old it is, but yesterday i went to start it (I use a 12v battery charger to jump the cylinoid cause i dont feel like pulling the pullstart all day) and it wouldnt start. I checked the plug and the wires and im not getting any spark. I took off the CDI case and everything seems to be clean, but then again i dont know very much about 3-wheelers. If someone has any ideas or a way to help me get it back to running, please help. Thanks

Do a search on electrical problems, it will show you where to start, and how to check each component.

try a new plug for starters..if that dont work u may need to get one of the following: stator coil (goes under flywheel), cdi box (black and mounts on frame), or the black ignition coil(also mounts to frame and has spark plug wire on it)...but first...is your switch on??? if not..lol..turn it on and try...if it is..since its a hopnda 185-200 its most likely the stator coil...hope u figure it out

Thanks guys. Do u think the plug would help even if the wire doesnt spark?

alright, I got the new plug and it still wont start, no spark :-(
what next?
another thing, my battery is junk, if the ground wire is on the battery does the hot wire need to be connected for the trike to start? cause mine is unhooked. I dont know if this has anything to do with anything though.

i dont know, can someone tell me how to go about testing the coil and stater? Everyone has been mentioning them, how do u test them?
thanks

Tests stator with 12 volt test light, cdi unit, and coil pack with ohm meter. I was just wondering did you have battery hooked up when it was running?

i had the ground on, but the hot is off cause the battery is junk.

and when i test them what should the ohm meter read on the cdi and coil?
everyones telling me that the coil is probably the problem...i dont understand how it could just go bad over night. Could it be because of the cold weather? Its stored outside in a shed.

check stator first with test light, we need to know what kind of trike this is for ohm readings. Could be points also.

If you used a battery charger to fire it up, it could have fried something.
What setting did you use on the charger ? 2 A or 10 A.???

Well thankyou all for trying to help. I dunno what was wrong with it but i guess it might have been too cold. I put the heat lamps on it because it was a thought i had, i had to do it to the lawnmower once, so i figured i would try it here before i went and bought any more parts. I thought it was a little weird. But anyway, thankyou all :-D
