well i got that stuff the other day and today i filled up the 200x tank..that stuff works great!! but my pet cock has a leak in it for some reason..i guess its a seal but it leask..and i didnt notice..untill i heard the sizzling sound on the floor of my garage..well on the bottle it says for etching concreate and im thinkin..o $h!t !!! lol..that and i filled it abit to full and it spilled over the top..lol..it leaked everywhere and i ran inside really quick and got some rags..cleaned it all up and put the tank over a bucket since it was leaking ...well..now the garage floor has a big white stain or "cleaning" on it..lol..that stuff is good degreaser too just dont get it on u..its not good for your skin..lol..i didnt cause i bought some rubber gloves also that day....you can see the fumes coming out of the tank tho..its so cool...lol..so anyway..yea i spilled the stuff on the floor an dparents dont know..yet...i hope they dont see it but you never no...it works wonders tho thats for sure..that rust comes straight off!!! what do you wash the tank out with after you put that stuff in there??? i was told acetone and water but im thinkin about just washing with water and some gas ..its cheaper..lol...and then i also have 1 less chemical to worry about spilling...thanks for the info on this stuff guys..it works!~! :beer

yea..lol...it wasnt very fun trying to sort the bad rags from the good to use..lol..especially since the acid was heading toward a lawnmower battery!!! lol..i was thinkin some stuff i cant say on here...lol

what happened to the other "acid" thread? got my second batch back from the acid dipper today and the front brake drum looks awful, pitted and blackened must not be steel! priming away tonite..but man, whew! it stinks down here.

u sure that stuff didnt have brake dust on it still and maybe it burned on there??? i dunno what happened i saw it yesterday and then it was gone..musta been on another page..i wasnt even thinkin about it tho till u just said that..lol...that sucks..maybe it was paint or somethin??i dunno my tank looks dam good!!! and i will be repainting it too..that stuff didnt take off the spray paint..any of the 6 coates..lol..3 primes 3 white..didnt take any off..the gas does but not acid..maybe there was 2 much water in it..i dunno..i have some other misc parts im going to do with that stuff...it works better than i thought..im goin to bed tho cuase its late and i got school and work 2 morrow..

You HAVE TO put in some accetone (8ozs or so) RIGHT AWAY after you rinse it. If not you will almost immeadiatly get flash rust from the remainder of water left in yet and oxygen hitting the bare metal. This part only takes a few minutes to do.

ight so how much is acetone then?? the tank ought to be pretty clean since its been in there for alomst 245 hours..i had to go to bed and it looked like crap still so i left it in..then i had to go to school and after that workk..i jsut got home and its still in there so it better look clean!! lol..ill turn the tank over so it can get he bottom half tonight and tomarrow ill get some acetone

Accetone is about 2.99 a quart. Why didn't you fill the tank and be done with it instead of flipping it around?

because the petcock was leaking for some reason...which by the way when i went out there last night ....the petcock was gone!!! all that was on there was that nut that holds it on...now..im not sure how that managed to do it but it completely sucks!!...i did fill it but it was draining out..and i could only find about 3 pieces to that petcock out there..i cant even find the switch or the little nipple for it yet..i found a washer that looks like a mini intake side of the head...i dounf some little black thing with 4 holes in it..i found another washer that was just round and small too..but thats it..i drained alot of that stuff out and still cant find it so i dunno..

well something else to tell u guys about this stuff...i have an extra 200x head and it was pretty rusty...i put it in there and it took a few minutes but it had a little chemical reaction or something and it took the rust straight off...its been in the acid for 5 minutes and that head is almost looking brand new besides the exhaust bolt thats stuck in it..all the valve holes and all the ports are very very nice and shiny...i took it out about 2 minutes ago and its looking really nice..that stuff does a good job..make sure u got a window open tho..theres lots of fumes...thats if trailprotrailpro in trailprotrailpro garage..its a little too cold outside to do this stuff so im in there on the concrete..lol..o yea i cant find the petcock anywhere..all i got is the nut and about 5 o rings from it..no little lever or anything...i dunno where it could have gone..its not in the bucket that the tank was over

Aluminum will get eaten up buy muriatic acid. It probably ate it for dinner.

it looked pretty good..i took it out and washed it all off..thats prolly y when i put a piece of steel in there it didnt reallly do anything and that aluminum head was bubblin like a mofo...lol...i took it out already..i didnt want it to eat it if it was...its not as shiny as i thought but it looks better than it did..all the rust is off and the black paint came off like i wanted it too...but the inside is a bit duller than the 185 head..it doesnt really bother me..a wire brush can fix that..and if it cant than sand paper will..but im not worried about it so itss all good...i havnt got any acetone yet and it hasnt had any rust come back yet either..i took it out about 10 minutes ago..right after i wrote the last post...and it hasnt rusted yet so im hopin its alright...its a backup anyway and it needs everything for it cause there is nothing in there...no valves springs anything so yea...speaking of that..is there some special mounting hardware for the valves or do u just put them on put hte springs and lifters on and its done?? like..if i got new springs and valves would i need to find oem lifters and the other stuff to put on??
