exhaust repackin?

i bought a dg silencer for my z and the guy said it needed to be repacked. so i bought the repacking material from dennis kirk. the guy had already removed the rivets so when i got the silencer i pulled it apart there was no packing in it but it looks like pieces of a coat hanger. this is my first time repacking so my question is do you just use enough material to wrap it around once and are you supposed to use the coat hanger to hold it in place?

You want enough to cover the whole thing but not so much that it is hard to push it back in the housing. I use masking tape to hold mine together after I wrap it.

i wrapped it around and totally covored it once. there still enough to do it a couple more times. but man does this stuff make your hands itch.
