DG Krome Power, exhaust system.... ATC 350X

Does anyone run this exhaust? How loud is it, How is the power increase, what jets do you run with it? I am looking for an exhaust that has a little better tone than stock, but not too loud,,, for instance on my XR350 I run a cobra aluminum silencer, it is OK,,, My buddy runs an FMF power core on his DRZ400 and it is way too loud for some of the places I ride,,, So is the DG really loud or OK,,,,,, Thanks for any help

The DG is nothing more then a cheap oem replacement. Theyre of shoddy construction, and far louder then stock. To make matters worse they hardly give you any power gains.

They are cheap though. Cobra and DG are the same pipe.

Not to argue, but I am very happy with the cobra on my XR350,, the fit and finish are excellent and I noticed quite a bit of midrange increase after rejetting,,,,,,,,, I was aware that cobra and DG are the same CO. I thought cobra was the cheaper alternative,,,,,, I do thank you for your input,,,,, So is the DG louder than the cobra? What exhaust would you recomend?????? My options are open, I was not aware of a better system, I posted to learn more, so please, the more info the better........ Thanks

-Literally- anything is better than a CObra or DG unless its one of the TUnable DG's. Youre better off with stock. FInd yourself a SUperTrapp maybe.

Your never better off with stock unless restoring. DG and Cobra are cheap in everyway but they work and they will do just fine for a little more power. I'm not sure you have many more choices for the 350X anyway.

Exxactly,, I plan on having a back up stock exhaust for when I restore it,,, but is there anything better than DG ( the krome power system looks real nice) for aftermarket 350X,,,,, I personelly don't like supertrap, I have it on my XR600 and Interceptor,,,, It's OK, but I like the cobra better,,,, supertrapp gets carbon all over everything around it and its just as loud unless I take all the discs out thenI lose power.......

True, the dg pipes do boost midrange somewhat.

I would probably retrofit a newer 400ex style silencer on and make a custom pipe/header or go with stock. There are plenty of options open to you, you just need to be a little creative.

Thats an option I had not thought of,,,, I'll look into it does anyone have an atc pipe and a 300-400 ex pipe that you could compare and let me know how different they are?

First of all, you're doing the right thing asking around. It's free, and advice can be worth a million dollars if you heed the right words.

I run the DG Krome Power kit. You can view my website in my signature for installation and after pics, as well as some general pics of my trike with it installed. The kit fit well, was priced good, had provisions for either an '85 or '86 mounting (they are a tad bit different around the grab bar) and looks nice.

It is louder than stock, probably as loud as any sane person would want to go, but it really makes my X sound tough without being annoying.

I would caution you to make sure you get jetting done at the same time as the pipe is put on if you go with a chrome plated exhaust, because if the pipes get too hot from leanness, the chrome will burn blue like so many old hot-rods you see around. Thie blue is very hard to remove, if possible at all.

For the money, it was worth it.

I can attest to Joel's trike. (Hey, Joel) It sounds sweeeeet !! Low, gutteral sound , but not too loud !

A really simple mod:
Add a Supertrapp disc kit to the DG megaphone. It quiets the roar a bit.
