Well.. i have a guy comming over tonight to check and possibly buy my 82 and 84, both start right up and the Big red runs ok, but not great, the 82 starts but won't travel too good.
I told him i'd take 1200 for both, but i hate trying to sell anything that don't run 100 %. My plan was to hold off the active " For Sale " until i got them up to par. but i don't want to lower the price on the basis that they run a bit rough. He seems to be in a rush to buy tho.. :p
Delemas. argh..
what's your thoughts on this ?

I know what you mean, I dont like selling anything that isnt 100% up to par. Every now and then I do just because I dont want to get to backwards into it. You want 1200 for both of them, lets say you have to put a different carb on one of them and that cost you 100 bucks, now you would want 1300 for both, I would do what I could without buying anything and just tell him that they might need a little work but nothing major?....
i know what you mean,,,i hate letting stuff go that has problems, thats why i ALWAYS tell each and every problem with the part/bike befor i sell it so it dont come back and bite me in the ass, i dont care if it lowers the price....being a crook and not telling them whats wrong with it will just come back to haunt you.

I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say "the 82 starts but won't travel too good." Can you clarify?

Yeah.. LOL..
the 82.. she'll start right up. first pull with thumb just touching the throttle.. but you put it in gear and it does not want to take mid-range gas very well, sputters and once you hold on to her she speeds up and rev's out ok, it's the mid-range that just sucks the big one... needle position i think ?????? or the Timing advance from the big red is causing probs for it.. not sure . gotta play with it.
Buddy came over and test drove the big red, i could see the grin on his face as he took off.. he was liking it !!! :) .. he had to talk to the girlfriend about the money, he was offering 400 for the red.. i said no !.

I do better at buying than selling, i never overpay for anything, so i kinda feel the same way when i sell.. i told him i would sell both of them for 1000 as is, and he was mainly intersted in the red as it's a runner. the 82 would require work, and he does not have a garage .
oh.. also. my heart almost fell out of my chest then he said " I don't have a garage,so it will have to stay outside under the steps "... that hurt.

I absolutely hate seeing them outside! There is a blue 225 just minutes from me with no front wheel and no shrouds and who knows what else that just sits out in the snow uncovered all winter long.
I walked up and asked "whats up with that 3 wheeler?" figuring it's junk (to them anyway) and the old man said his grandson is fixing it up.
Yea sure, 6 months from now it will probably still be setting there! It really should be mine
I'll wait another month or 2 then walk up and ask "Whats up with that 3 wheeler?" and repeat the process evry month there after till it's mine. :D
Sell the guy an electric blanket along with it so it will stay warm in the winter!
HEY, why don't you tell him to at least frame it out and make a few walls under steps? It will have it's own little garage then! :D

i say sell it for wat u think is good and fair, come on how many of us have bought machines that are rough and dont run or get ripped off by the good ole "its faster then a banshee and has a new top-end" then u run it one time and the thing spits out oil, wont idle, and is a jerk to start, i would tell him wats wrong with it and then tell him that 1200 is a steal for both which in Ca it is to find to 250sx. so i think u do wats the moral standard and intergrity u standby

Oh... the SX is NOT being sold.. i'll have that thing forever.
I'm selling the big red and the 82 200.
Yeah.. i'm having second thoughts..... My BigRed is worth more than 500, if he buys both at the same time, i'll bite the bullet and take 1000 and won't go back on my word, but i really don't feel right about selling the red for only 500... that would be a hell of a steal for him and a loss for me.
If it was one of my best friends then yeah. i'd have that, but not for this guy.
Man.. i hate selling suff.
