View Full Version : froze up motor
what is the best way to get a motor unfroze without pulling it apart. the motor is stuck from sitting up. i tried filling the cylinder full of aerokroil (penetrating oil) and letting it sit over night but that didnt work. i have heard of using diesel or transmission fluid. thanks for any help

do you plan on running this thing after getting it unfroze? then you ought to pull it apart anway to clean it up and rering and anything else neccessary, or you may have bigger problems

barry_mann, it took it a long time to freeze up and it is gonna take awhile to unfreeze also.
last motor i got froozen up was a 185s. i put tranny fluid cut with a little deisle fuel (or keroseen) down the plug whole. after about a week i took the pull starter off and used a socket and breaker bar. once i had gotten it to move a little i took my time going back and forth (piston up + and down ) untill i was able to get a full revolution out of it.
it ran like a champ ! run that trike for a couple of years.
what did you get ? get it cheap ?

i got a atc 70. the guy told me 75.00 bucks but when we got to his garage it was froze up. he then knocked it down to 35.00. it is in great shape. his son hardly drove it and it hadnt been touched since the earlt 90's. figured it would be a good starter trike for my nephew. i also got a old hodaka from him that isnt that bad either. he was just going to throw it away.
