I know they are somewhat poor camera pix, but you get the idea of it. A lot of the stuff in the cylinder is a reflection. there are some slight scuffs on the inside though.
I am posting this because do you guys think i can reuse this piston (with new rings of course), and, do i need a bore/hone on the cylinder or just a hone, or nothing at all?
Thanks for looking,
Mike

have the piston and cylinder measured with a micrometer, and if they are within dealer specs, then you can hone it and put new rings on....

Real tuff to tell from the crappy pics, but it looks like the piston skirt is scuffed. If there is scuffing on the piston toss it. If there are any scuffs/grooves in the bore that you can feel with your fingernail, it needs bored. If you are gonna reuse piston check it with a micrometer. Same with the cylinder. If it's within specs and not at all scored, just a honing will do. Jus tmy 2cents, but if you're gonna go thru the time and effort to take the motor all apart, why not spend the extra $$ for a new piston?

All that work to take it apart, IF IT'S WORTH DOING.....................
It's worth doing right. Look at piston to determine the next size, then get it and the jug/head to the man and have it bored.
