View Full Version : Have an idea for all of us concerning used parts

In the next few weeks I want to make it down to a small salvage yard (very small) and got the idea that if we all would post a week or two before we would go to such places that we can tell you what we need.
This place has a small upper level where you step over trike parts. It's a mess and like looking for the good ole needle in the haystack type of deal.
BUT......there are few around that you can be like a kid in a candy store and just ripp thru the parts trying to find what you need. Also the owner doesn't hover over you like a hawk. Take your own tools and stay there all day or 1/2 a day if you want. It's fun and I enjoy the thrill of finding THE PART!!!! You literally climb over parts trying to find things. Reasonable prices too.
Have not been there in many moons but am planning a "lets see what he's got" real soon.
SO, what do you need?????? This is sort of just a test to see if anyone is interested. You would have to trust my judgement on the parts as I'm not going to run back and fourth for a 10, 20 or whatever the price of the part may be.
Like I say, not knowing who needs what is ashame because I might have the very part you need right in my hand!
I'd need the obvious info too. Year, make, model, part, what shape your looking for, & color I guess. That should cover it. OH, and about how much you would expect to pay. Honestly for my time I'll tack on a few bucks. Like a 12.00 part might be 15, a 40 part 46 and so fourth. I think it's only fair if I end up finding you that speacial part you need.

I have 2 places with in 45 minutes of me.
East Coast ATV which is huge but thats well orginized and you can't go rooting thru the parts which I don't enjoy. The prices I'm sure are higher too because of the huge overhead they have.
It's the type where you........... UM, do you have so and so of part for a &^$^$@$& ? Hold on, Ill check. Boring to me.
Then there is good old Larry's service center hidden in Richlandtown, PA.
That's the candy store of ATV & C & motorcycle parts I'm talking about where you just take your time and look, hunt & search. What a mess though!
Can't wait to go down!
SO, what do you need? :D

350X headlight lens (just the glass bulb housing) needs to have no cracks or anything, and it cant be fogged up.. Dont need anything but one of the housings. They are $24. something new from the dealer, so i'd expect less for used parts. I just dont feel like dealing with my idiotic dealer here. (checking everywhere first - dealer is last resort).

East Coast ATV tried to sell off their entire 3 wheeler stuff on ebay last fall. Like a storage building with 350X, 250R, and a few Tri-Z parts. I don't think anyone bid on it, but seems like someone checked it out and said it was pretty much picked over already. Maybe you ought to call first, or just say the heck with it and drive over to Larry's!

Larry's is 1st on my list! I really like that place. It's old fashion like, nothing fancy what so ever but over 80% of his inventory is not inventoried! Stuff everywhere! At least all the 3 wheelers parts are upstairs, in a heap that is. I just hope he is still open. Need anything?
Thanks for the info on EC. I'm only 12 minutes from them when at work. I'll stop by just to get the scoop and let ya all know whats up. I do remeber they had a few vintage 3 wheelers waaaay up on a loft. One was a 81 250R I think in original shape. That was a few years ago though.

Maybe I'll have to drag you down with me? I'm sure you'd love it! Best to get there the second they open at 10:00 because since I don't go there often I can spend a good 1/2 a day there sniffing around for treasures.

NO, that guy watches you like a hawk. You can't just roam around and check things out.
This place is about 40 minutes or so S of me in the Quakertown area.
I'll call Monday to see what's up. Like I said.........haven't been there in a good 5 years I bet.

One concern I would have is if they are all just lying around how can you tell what part is for what make. unless, he has them marked. I was at a place once (don't remember where?) but they had parts that were marked with black marker. I think it was up near Towanda somewhere.

Thats the fun of it! :D I think thats why he is so reasonable with price. He's just glad you found something!
The parts are litterly interlocked alot of times and you have to seperate them just to get a good look at them. I'm sure some are marked but for the most part they are not.
I think he is the type too that will let you bring it back. Check it out on www.mapquest.com You'll understand exactly where it is then.

This is good guys! Keep the parts coming. Only problem is I'll have to take out a loan to pay for the stuff!
I want to stress I might not find anything but then again I might find most of what you ask........all depends on luck.
He has no email account as far as I know. Simple cash & carry deal.
Honestly I'm doing this backwards sort of. I should have called 1st just to make sure everything is still the same down there since it has been a while that I have been down.
I'll call today and leave ya know what's up.
If I would find a large selection that would make it worthwhile to run back, which isn't that big of a deal, I'll take digital pictures of all the parts so you can see what your getting. I'll have him set the parts aside till I get an A-OK on what parts you like.
