350X Speedo Install

I Just won myself a 350x wheel assembly with speedo gearbox on ebay! :w00t: What exactly is the proper installation procedure? I know it replaces the spacer and dust seal, anything else I should know?

ATTN: 350X'inNY, do you have the part # for the speedo display that does NOT say ATC on it, like the one on your 'Showgirl'? I have heard it is still available :wondering , better then buying a used one on Ebay for $$$.

Im pretty sure thats all you have to do. I am about to install one on my bike also. Those other speedo heads are available. They have the red ring on them. I lucked up and won one on ebay for $10 brand new. LOL. I didnt see that speedo gear on ebay. Guess you lucked up. LOL. How much did you have to give for it. I assume you know it mounts on the right side. :beer

I stole it for $109.83!!! Not bad considering I can sell the wheel and hub to get some extra cash.


Hey, Lots of Nothing, I can sell you the hub and axle once I get it if you want it. Can't sell you the rim tho I'm using it on something else. I'll give you the right spacer too.

that same guy had a tire and rim for sale, i think it had a hub on it too
for alot cheaper than the one with the speedo cable

The one that is on my Showgirl is now discontinued too. The replacement part from HONDA is like Clay described. It will look quite old school on my 82R, but not that great on a 350X imo.

The part number is 08E80-HM4-100 if I recall from memory... the speedo itself is down to the shop. Too much snow out there to mess with it! ~$50 from Service Honda.

Here are some pictures on mounting it.... Note - There is a dust seal that comes with the kit! It is the one shown on my hub in the first pic!

Yeah.. they didn't look that hip on the Subi... So I took them off the 2.5RS and on the 350X. :naughty:

After I crashed at night once, and the people couldn't find me at first, I figured the flashing lights would help them out! Also, I crashed because I was avoiding a kid that didn't see me from the side.... now he can see me better riding too!

This is the one that replaces the HONDA ATC and the HONDA one on my Showgirl. Again, it will look good instead of the Tripmeter on my 82R, but think it's too "old school" looking for a 350X.

Clay, where'd YOU find a 350X gearbox? Or are you milkin' it with a Right hand gearbox off a 85-87 Big Red? I've been looking for one for awhile, was going to setup speedo and tach for both 350X's.

Well it hasnt showed up yet, but our good friend Sir Swinehart hooked me up. :D He said he got it from a friend of a friend of a friend or something. LOL. John found me one and a cable I think. I thought it would be here today, but it didnt show up. Maybe monday. :naughty:

it didn't show up yet ,,,, hmmm. i'm making some phone calls in the morning.
the mrs. and i are going to a custom bike show tomorrow in south bend, indiana so i can check out what the custom bike builders are mounting for matching speedo/tach combo's. i certanly don't want the digital stuff ,,,
i'll take the digital camara along + share pics if i see any applicable units.

Yes... when you live in God's country, there isn't enough open space to open it up! Trees, rocks, mud, streams, deer and the antelopes playing get in the way.

Now Clay.... make sure you convert it back to MPH. 100 KPM= 62.1 MPH I'm interested in your answer, cause I know what it SHOULD be.... I wanna see whether you have the correct gearbox or not! And if not, whether I can tellwhat it is from your response!! :welcome:

Well I went to see the Big Red in the shed today and discovered that it has a Hondaline Speedo mounting bracket, which I didn't know before. One problem, the previous owner cut it and welded it in another fashion so he could mount it on his aftermarket windshield :rolleyes: . Oh well it looks as if I'll have to make one for the 350X. :cry:

it ain't that hard to copy the mount bracket ,,, just a fancy bent cut out of some metal.

You can see it when sitting down, but easier if standing. Either case, if you are looking at the speedo, you aren't looking at what's coming at you!
