I am having a little bit of a dilema...I am trying to get my ATC 200 running right as many of you know from the numerous questions I have asked over the past while. Everyone here who has responded to my posts have been a great help...I probably wouldn't have gotten this far without you so thanks. For this reason I am again asking your opinion on my next step.

My 200 is not running right at start up in that it will not idle cold unless I sit there on the throttle (it also 'pops' throught the exhaust when it's cold). It starts great and runs great when warm. After playing with any adjustment I could think of I still have the same problem and I am almost convinced it is a valve problem. Heres the dilema...when I bought the trike I recieved two non running engines, on of wich is now running. I know nothing about lapping valves nor do I have the tools required and I really don't have lots of money to spend on this trike but I do have another part of the engine head with different valves on it. What I am thinking is to take this peice and exchange it onto the running motor. Now this is alot of work and it could be all for nothing if I am wrong or if the valves on the new unit are the same or worse and like I said the trike runs right now. What would you do? Would you try to swap them or do you have any other ideas? Your opinions are appriciated...thanks.

Mark.

Take a compression test to see what shape your motor is in. If compression is low, add 1 ounce of oil through spark plug hole. Let it sit for about 5 minutes add spark plug, and do compression test if it comes up higher, rings are getting bad. If it is still low, valves are bad. Then I would try swapping out head if you don't have alot of cash.

Well tried it today anyway and the same result so both heads are probably good as well as the valves and I have another problem...maybe I'll just live with it like this. Spend some time trying to make it look a little better maybe. Anyone out there know the cheapest place to pick up a new seat?
