83/84r problems need lil help

ok well i was out riding with some friends at some riding areas around us and while i was out riding my light was on and i relized it so i turnt it off. After we got done riding we went to my gf's house and when i left their it was dark and my light stoped working. Its not in the wire harness and the headlight bulb is good. do you think it could be the taillight or maybe the coils in the motor? plus i went out to ride it the other day and it fired up on the second kick and then it died after sitting their for about 10 secs. so i changed the spark plug thinking maybe that was the problem and it fired up again. so i went out riding went to a buddies house and talked with them to see where they where going riding then was on my way about a half mile down the road my bike staled on me and backfired couple times. so i changed the sparkplug again and it started up and i went out riding.....its workin fine for now but i just wanted to know what you guys think it is any help would be great.

Check the trike for a broken wire somewhere. sounds like maybe a rectifier or stator problem.but start with the harness. Also check inside your handlebar switches for loose connections.
