I have successfully completed another rescue mission. This one took months to acquire. But all in all it was worth it. :Bounce Other than a really dirty carb and some annoying camo paint this Yamahauler is in damn fine shape. If any one has a rear rack let me know.

Let me know what parts you might need. I got a bunch ol parts here for the shaft drive Yamaha's! I might have a rear rack too... might be for a Yami 4 wheeler though.
You're a great addition to the board! :welcome:
Holic.... you going to get that Blue 225 or what?

All this trike needs is some TLC and a rear rack. It is chain driven which leads me to think it is an E model. I am also having trouble identifing the year. Any suggestions?

If it's chain driven, it's just a regular 200. 200E was the electric start shaft drive "Yamahauler" As far as the year, see if you can find any numbers on the frame, decals not painted, motor, etc.

looks like its just a 200.

your right, I did not mean to type E. I was looking at an E brochure on Ebay and got side tracked. I think this one is an N. The other 200 I have does not have much on it so I am going by what I was told on that one. I have looked for number, but everything seems to be painted over. By the way do you have a photograph of the rack you have. Maybe I can identify it.

Get the #'s off of the engine (top of the case behind the cylinder). Even if the engine has been painted the paint should come off fairly easily.

OK, it is an '83 YTM 200K, or at least the carb. is. See how the carb. mounts. On the '84 and '85 they mounted with bolts to the intake (like the 225 does). The '84 and '85 actually use the same carb as the 200ern. I hope yours is good because those style are not easy to find but do come up occasionally. If you do need a different carb. then you can switch to the 200ern with its intake.

I have not tried the carb yet. It needs a good cleaning. The trike did come with a brand new in the bag OEM intake tube though. It does not mount like my 84 YTM 225 does. I was wondering if it is even the correct intake.

The '83 had the carb. clamp on to the intake where the rest of the Yamaha 200's and 225's had the carb. bolt on to the intake.

I am sorry, I meant my 83 YTM. I will take a better look at it when I go home this weekend. I did not spend a lot of time with that area. I mostly got it cleaned up and ready for its transformation back to a respectable trike.

Not true. ALL the chain driven tri-motos have clamps for the carbs. the shaft driven tri-motos have studs on the front of the carbs to attach them.

You have a ytm200k. A 200N is for the four wheeler. L is for I dont know
200EK/EL/ERN ARE SHAFT DRIVE
225DXK/DXL/R ARE SHAFT DRIVE

I am not so sure about that. If you are going my by the Clymer manual then I can see how you are confused, the book is wrong. Check the parts diagrams, they changed the carb.
The model is a YTM200, the next letter is just to show what year it is.
the K = 1983, L = 1984, N = 1985
All Yamahas had this letter at the end of their model, your 1985 Tri-Z would also be known as an YTZ250N even though it is more commonly referred to as the YTZ250

Yamahauler is like a nickname for the YTM200E and YTM200ERN (which replaced the 200E).

I should have said only the '83 YTM200 had the clamp on type, I don't think I was very clear about that.

Duh, you think I would have figured that out. I feel dumb now. Your right. I have spent so much time learning about Tri Z's you think I would have picked up some information about the YTM's. I have YTZ250N's and S's. So once I identify the year I will know the letter code. Now, How will I find the year? :wondering As I said before I have to remove a lot of paint, but if there is something I should look for let me know.

If the carb is clamp on it is a ytm 200k, They made these in 1983 and as long as you order saying it is a K parts will match up. 1984 ytm 200L had bolt on carb. Also front fender is plainer than 1984, 1984 had raised edges on front fender this front fender is smooth.

I was leaning toward 83 myself. The carb is a clamp on style. So I take it that narrows it down.

From what I can make you of your tank sticker it is an '83 also.
1983
http://parts.yamaha-motor.com/partimage.gifx?d=17693,2,0
1984
http://parts.yamaha-motor.com/partimage.gifx?d=16568,3,0
See how much thinner the '84 sticker is on the part that goes along the bottom of the tank. The '85 is a totally different look.
Here is my '84 tank, is shows the size difference even better.

I see your point. The outline does appear to be the same as the 83 decal in the diagram. Thanks, that was a big help. Now I have to identify the other YTM 200 I have. I will try and get some photographs of that one as well, but it is not complete. So that will be a challenge.
