Are Champion spark plugs junk?

I always hear my grandpa and everyone around me bi~chin about how much they hate champion spark plugs. I went to autoZone yesterday and all they had was champion (no NGK which is what I wanted). So is this plug gonna crap out on me or are they a dependable plug?

ive never noticed a difference between ngk, champion, split fire or any plug out there.

Champions are great for lawn mower,tractors,and lawn equipment, but for atv's I have never had any luck with them. I use NGK most of the time. I had a splitfire in a 200x that lasted about 4-5 years.

I have always been told to run NGK plugs, they burn hotter than the rest.

Champion actually makes a plug just for ATV's. I ran one in my Z for months and it worked just fine. Matter of fact, it actually started easier with it.

I run them in my DS 650. Everytime (well 3) I put NGK's back in, it will start maybe a hand full of times then flood out very easy. When I put the champions back in I never have any trouble? In the other six or seven bikes I've had, NGK was the plug I always used and never had any trouble with them. Not sure what that means, but thats been my history with them.

I was looking at the Champion plug and it reads on it RA6HC when the book said DR8HL (NGK) or something close to it. Is that just the number for the NGK plug or should all of them have it?

thats the number for the ngk (dr8) you have to cross reference plugs..i had a champion powersports plug in my 185 and it ran great and started easily..whenever i put an autolite in it lasted about 2 weeks..the champion so far has lasted the longest..2 years..and the ngk's are close..ngk dont really do much effect when it starts but when your engine is warm they are good..in other words..champion is a good all around plug and ngk is only good when your engine is warmed up..ive not had a problem with champion powersport plugs so far

i Hate NGK!!!!just so you know the ceramic in the ngk plugs are more porous and can soak up gas faster...the champion are a little less porous than the ngks and foul harder....i always use champions unless advance only has ngks....

Really? I love NGK. If I own something you can almost guarentee there is a NGK plug in it, except for my trike :D

ok I changed the plugs and you'll probably think of me as a noob but I didnt know about the metal cyclinder that goes over the one end of the spark plug. Iwas trying to shove the spark cover over that cyclinder till I realized that piece came off. LOL

I've only ever had problems with Champions, particularly with the porcelin snapping and cracking. I'm really not a plug snob though - I'll pretty much use anything, but Champions - I've been left out on the trail because of them and stuck on quite a few jobs because of them.

I will not put a champion in anything I own. Only NGK here. In my X the NGK's have always rand better. Its been a noticable diffrence.
