Just wondering if any of you guys are using amsoil product in some of your 20 year old machines and how you liked it?

I run it in my 85 Honda Sabre 1100 street bike. Shifts smoother and engine runs cooler per the LED guage. My dad is a dealer and has been for 18 yrs. Good Stuff.
I run amsoil 10-40 in my mint 86 350x right now, will swithc to 20-50 in summer, it seems to like it, plus amsoil is actually synthetic unlike some others like castrol, wich says synthetic but is actually a highly refined type III oil and not trully synthetic. Has all the goodies you need to, as far as additive packs go. i will run this in my cbr 1000RR this summer as mobil 1 (another true syn) is $9 a quart where i live for the cycle oil.

My brother runs the 10w-40 in his 450 foreman and all though it's hard to believe, it sounds way better than mine with the 5w-40 Delvac 1....but I keep runing Delvac 1 because I know it's the "best".

I used Amsoil SABRE 2 stroke mix.
It started and ran fantastic with no excessive smoke and no fouled plug all day.
The mix ratios they recommend are a bit unsettling at first glance but their mix has NO solvents, it's pure oil.
The SABRE mixes sound like certain engine death BUT here's what the Amsoil technician (VERY helpful and thorough on the phone, by the way) and my local shop owner said:
Amsoil 50:1 is roughly equivalent to 20:1 with standard blends (they said this will more than likely foul plugs).
Amsoil 80:1 is roughly equivalent to 32:1 with standard blends.
Amsoil 100:1 is roughly equivalent to 50:1.
I ran the 80:1 yesterday (what the tech and my local shop recommended) and it still had a slight wisp of smoke from the silencer...which is FINE with me. :)
Two thumbs up from me.

Your kidding Right? There are very few oil products that compare to Amsoil. You even get extended drain intervals with Amsoil. In cars and trucks you can get 25,000 miles out of a oil change. Thats if you use Amsoils filter and change the filter at 12,500 miles. I run their oil and filter in my street bike and my 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. :beer

Have you ever sent in an oil sample to have it anaylized? The results will surprise you. Have you ever run 25K before an oil change? Was the oil sample checked? Oil filters will not make the oil go farther between changes.

Your mistaken. I have ran amsoil for 25K miles for years. Amsoil guarentees and recommends these intervals. The filter filters at something like 3 microns. Dont quote me, but thats close. I have also seen the insides of an engine in my old Taurus that blew a head gasket at 100k. Clean as a pin. Cylinder walls had almost a mirror finish. Never used a lick of oil or smoked. Also my aunt has ran it in every Honda accord she has had since the late 80s. Honda has farily strick guidelines for their valve clearances and milege for doing so. She took it in for the adjustment every time. Not until 125,000 + miles did they need adjusting. The mechanics at the dealer had never seen this. Any way. The thing with high end synthetics like Amsoil, Blue Marble, Royal purple etc is this. Their flash point or the point at which the oil temp starts to brake the oil down is WAY higher in these oils. Even Mobile one doesnt compare to these oils. Its way better than most oils at the parts store, but its not one of the high end brands. I actually had a buddy back home that had a Buick Grand National Turbo. He always complained about his turbo getting too hot. It would drastically drop his qtr mile times at the track. I finally talked him into changing the oil to amsoil. Needless to say he hasnt looked back. This problem was reduced drastically. Also Amsoil has a writtten guarentee on their products. If you are using their oil per their recommendations, and engine failure occurs they will replace the engine. All they as for is a sample of the oil to analize to determine what part of the engine it came from. If its the oils fault, they will foot the bill. No other companies offer this. Amsoil is not your normal oil. Trust me. Im not the only person that knows this. Oh and its great for cold weather. I have taken a bottle of regular mobile oil in the shed when it was 15 degrees outside and inside the shed. The oil was like Karo syrup. Took the Amsoil that was the same weight and it just sloshed around. All this stuff comes into play when your talking about oil life. We have used if for 18 years and its been great. It also takes quite a while to get dirty. Man I hate to go on an on but heres something else. JB Hunt the trucking line actually went to Amsoil and this new double filtration system. I think thats what its called. Their repair cost dropped and they were able to run the oil for a long time. Way longer than 25k. Here is a couple of links for you on the extended drain intervals. The second one will blow you away, 490k miles without changing the oil. Pics are included! Enjoy. Just think. Costs more, but you can run it longer, Hince making it cheaper.

Scientific slants and testimonials are fine but lets see some HARDCORE data sample analysis results at 25k, 125k, and 500k miles. I use Blackstone Laboratories for my diesel oil analysis. (ONE OF THE BEST THAT i FOUND).

Like I said 18yrs of using it and all my friends and family using it is good enough for me. Its never let anyone down. Im sure that you didnt jump into that stuff feet first without doing some product research. You obviously havent used Amsoil for anything. Amsoil offers oil anaylsis kits to send your oil in periodically for testing. If your worried about it try it. That will give you your so called hardcore evidence. :beer Oh and you dont have to yell to get your point across.

I might look stupid but no oil goes half a million miles without a change. I dont care how many times you just have to change the filters. Just my opinion.

Well look at this way. If the oil never really brakes down, the only thing that will inhibit its ability to lubricate is it being dirty. Thats where their filtration system comes in. That Bypass filter system does what it says it does. Im not knocking you at all. Dont take it that way. Just a good conversation. :D

I got a dual bypass system on one of my diesel pickups and it works great. My max oil change interval ,after analysis is 9500 miles. A little off topic. Ride hard!!

i thouhgt you werent suppose to use synthetic in your atv's?? i heard synthetic will screw over your engine..especially if its a manual clutch cause it makes it slip really easy...btw i couldnt go to that amsoil site..something on the firewall on here bans it..maybe my parents dont like amsoil so they banned the site..lol..i dout it but i dunno y it is blocked

I use Honda 80/90 oil. You dont want the additional additives in the gearbox oil. I wanted to buy oil in 5 gal pails. I called Mobil to find a comperable oil. Non was available. They said the demand wasn't there.

You can run synthetics, but you have to make sure they are for wet clutch applications. Amsoil and others make oil that falls in that category. I use Amsoil motorcycle oil in my Street bike with a wet clutch. A lot of synthetics have anitwear inhibitors that greatly reduce engine wear. The problem is that it can also cause the clutches to glaze over. Just make sure its for ATVs or motorcycles and wet clutch safe. Usually says it on the bottle.

Amsoil sells it by the qt. Its usually about $6 a qt plus shipping. You can order it from their website or you can call their Phone#(715) 392-7101
. A lot of places inflate the price.
