Just wondering which way (direction) you guys are installing the clip. I know the right way & just curious to see how many are doing it the correct direction.

Maybe some don't even realize there is a right and wrong?

Closed end in the direction of rotation. So nothing could catch it and pop the clip off. Come on guys.

Everyone is talking about "if it happens" or "if it does it". WHat the heck does it do. Fly off and tear your leg up? Tear the Bike up. Both? Some additional info would be nice. LOL

Won't likely injure you unless you're doing something that would result in a wreck if you're rear wheels either locked up or just lost power.

What it very likely will do is shatter the engine case in front of the front sprocket. Would be an expensive lesson to learn.

Plan on using a 2nd masterlink if you want to lengthen the chain, unless you can still get a chain stretcher from your dealer. It should be on the shelf next to the powerbands.

Been there, done that. Not from losing the master link, I just had the chain come off, go through my case and quickly drain the oil. EXPENSIVE!!! A case saver is good insurance.

Dear Mr. Sandman,

I've been around long enough to know that they do not have powerbands at my local dealer (discontinued) or they are fresh out of chain stechers! I should of worded it diffrently in my post. Is there such things as half links for chains? Because I cut mine to short (I have adjusted my tensioners all the way back and forward) and it comes up about a half of link short. How can I fix this problem without buying a new chain.

You'll have to use a link or two to make up what you need and add a 2nd masterlink. If and when your chain stretches enough, rather than adjusting it tighter, you might be able to eliminate the extra links including the 2nd masterlink.

the picture is a polaris indy 500 stroker crank that cracked completely in half, thought id put it in my signature cause it doesnt happen everday and looks cool:cool:

not the polished rods and whatnot, this was a completely race motor, but not it just a fully race ported indy 500...
