Hello everyone,

I just got my validation squared away and was able to post for the first time. Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I am new to ATC's having tried
2 street bikes (86' VT1100 & 85 V-65), 2 trail bikes ( Honda 110 & Honda XL250s)
and couldn't seem to find what would float my boat if ya know what I mean.
I bought a 85 Honda Big Red 200es and was very pleased with it, In the last 3 months I have somehow aqquired the 200es, 3 - 110's, 1 - 90cc. and today bought a 86 Honda 250es Big Red ( old man bought it in 86 and never rode it - he estimates about 20 HRS !!! on it in 20 yrs. I believe it...... and you would too if ya saw it, to say mint might be an understatement)
Anyways, I seem to be aqquiring more and more of them and they all seem to be Honda's :D
My first question of you super smart peoples is: Since I have NO idea what years the 3 110's are how do I find out? Am I just an idiot? is there an easy way to tell?
If anyone

first off :welcome:. secondly on the steering colum on the left side if your sitting down on the trike should have a sticker saying when it was made and some other good stuff.

Thanks,

I know on the Honda 90 I got it just says" ATC90 and then has a string of numbers
which I assume is the VIN. I need the code to deciper the VIN if anyone has it or know where to find it. I was at a site a couple of weeks ago and they has a deal that showed the numbers and what they all mean so you can break down the VIN.
Also, does it really matter what years they are? Are all the 110's pretty much the same as far as parts interchangability? And how about the 90cc ?

As far as buing all the ATC's up?.................... I'm just trying to get them off the market so nobody gets hurt. They are soooooo dangerous ya know! ;)

It all depends on the year your 110's are as far as interchangeability. Once we find out the years on the 90 and 110's we will tell what is interchangeable. The 110's changed slightly in 82 ish. So some parts will not be, but mostly plastic seat and so on. If you have a newer 90 and older 110's you should be able to find that most of the stuff will swap back and forth. You may need to check recoils. Carbs are same pretty much. Engines are identical except in the newer years they dumped points so newer 110's have cdi's. That will create small problems in swapping around. But like I said once your years are nailed. We can better assist you.

Thanks everyone, you guys are a wealth of info. Also Buy saying "guys" I mean no disrespect if there are ladies. Are there any or are you all mostly guys on this forum?
The 250es I heard about here in town we have a show called "trades & sales", everyday on the local radio station from noon - 1:30 people can call in and sell things and I heard the ad for the 86' Big Red 250es, The guy just gave a very basic description of it although he said it was in "pretty good" shape.
I had to unload my log truck before I could go check it out and was worried it would sell before I got there
Anyways, I got unloaded and shot over there and it was still there. :D
I was expecting one in "pretty good" shape but nothing to cause heart failure, when I saw it I about pee'd myself, I asked him if he ever rode it and he told me he bought it new back in 86' and they took it out around 15- 20 times since buying it, but he can only ride for about an hour because his back is bad and he can't ride any longer without pain. If the math teacher I had years ago done taught me right then the way I see it the bike has approx. 20 hrs. use on it max. ?!?!?
The thing is just emmaculate!

Well, now the bad news. On the ad he advertised it for $1,250 OBO. and I didn't have that much money right now in my "toy" fund. The Visa and Mastercard are only for "emergency use". Now guys....... before you all say it, this isn't an emergency. I know, I know, to me it is but there's the wife to consider. If this is an "emergency" then so would be 100 other things to her and I would soon be one of the "average" americans with $14,000 in credit card debt.
I asked the guy if he would be interested in taking payments, I would give him $200 down, $500 friday (today) & $500 next friday, he thought about it for about a minute and said............................................ Yes! that would be fine :w00t:

So, I gave him the $200 and today later I will give him another $500 and next week I will bring it home.
Today I will take some pics when I go to make the payment for you guys but in all honesty I won't "own" it till next week.
Can't wait to get it home.
Oh well I got other work to do anyways, I bought a 18' Bayliner boat at an auction last weekend for the trailer for $275, the boat was trashed to say the least. I am welding expaned metal on the frame rails to make a deck on it after taking off the rollers and sliders for the boat. The trailer is awesome, it's deck is 4' x 18' and perfect for about 4 ATC's. (I'm tired of loading the damn things in my pick-up)

Well, later guys, pics will be on tonight of all the bikes if I can figure out how to post them

It runs better than it looks :D

The guys bought it new in 85' and says he rode it 15 -20 times over the years for about an hour each time......

Dont worry about guys and ladies thing. Very few even realize how many gals there truly are.

So what year are your 110's and 90 ? Congrats on the purchase. You have the addiction I see. Funny how you find one or 2 and they start falling out of the sky.

Blazerone22: Well as far as my plans on the 250es.......I'm affaid im gonna ride it, but take awesome care of it. It's too sweet to abuse.

Jenndnn: I'm not sure yet of the years yet on the little bikes, One was supposed to be a 79'
but I need to deciper the VIN's to be sure and verify the others.

I'm taking pics tomorrow morning and posting them on this thread along with the VIN's. So maybe someone here can shed some light on it.

So tell everyone where having a trike I.D. party here tomorrow, beers on me (cyber beers)
any help will be appreciated.

Also, I'm ordering a repair manual for my 2 Big Reds but till I recieve it I need to change the oil in my 84' 200es. Anyone know where you drain it? To be honest I haben't looked for a drain plug but will tomorrow. Where is the oil filter? You can tell I've worked on alot of trikes.

Here is the 84' 200es, I'll get pics of the 110's & 90 tomorrow.

For my first time and being inexperienced at getting a trike stuck you gotta admit I did a fairly good job!

The "solid" looking ground behind it cost me a pair of Reeboks after I sank up to my knee's in it.

1200 is a steal for that. I got mine for 600 but that was a real steal, and it's in almost as good condition as yours, but it has allot more stuff too (speedo, windshield, etc.). Good Grab!

I pulled one of them manuevers. My dad wouldnt even go and get the tractor for me, "you get it stuck then you sure as hell can get it unstuck yourself." Its fun digging you trike out of wattery mud, just fills back in with every scoop
