I am not sure where to post this, so I would start here. I am not selling nor brokering a deal. Just passing info on incase anyone is interested.

I found a Kawasaki Tecate 4 sale today while running some errands. I did not nor do I follow these machines as they are few and far between around here. I took the attached crappy pic while doing a drive by. I think its a 84/85, but when I called for info, the guy stated a 87!!! What is it really? If anyone may be interested in this machine, PM me and I will give you the phone # and name of the guy selling it that I got from the sign. The Machine is located in Kenosha, WI which is about 1/2 way between Milwaukee and Chicago.
If you are seriously interested. I would be willing to get more(better) pictures and actually hear the thing run for you.

Thanks,
Dave

That is indeed an 84-85 tecate. 87's were the newer style right when they changed over to the T-4's.

It is an 84-85. The 86-87 had shrouds like the one in scottZJ's avatar. ;)

84 Model. Looks like it has a front drum brake.

when I was looking at my 86 200x, I decided to mess with the owner a little bit. I asked what year it was, and he said " oh this is a '93, thats the last year they were made!"

Looks like it is in pretty good shape to be as old as it is. Still couldn't tell if front brake is drum or disc though but with radiator on front forks it is definitely an 84 or 85 model KTX 250 Tecate. Wish it was a "RED" one to match my other 84 Tecate. Thanks for passing on tha info, never know what you will see driving down tha road.

Thanks for the info. JFYI, the owner is asking $900.00 OBO. He said he has some negotiation room. Not sure if its worth while or a good price.

Look at the brake cable routing. see how it comes down in front of the lower tube and angles out. dead give away for a drum. Also, the black lower fork legs were only ever on 84s. They were gold or black. 85's were silver. Of course, those could have been re-painted.

I did verify that it has a drum brake on the front. So you were 100% correct Jeb. GJ!!!
