Paul;
Dirt is just about the worst enemy of your engine and running without an air filter or cover will certainly increase the risk of damage. Winter weather and snow cover will reduce the amount of dirt that your engine takes in but there will still be an increased amount of dirt consumed. Let's face it, nobody makes a snowmobile without a good air filter system. End the risk as soon as you can and get your filter and cover back on.

dirt and debris getting into the motor can cause major problems. ruining valves, cylinder , and everyhting. get one on asap.
