View Full Version : Quick Q about '83 250r case's!! quick!!
hey, tearin into a '83 R motor, i took all the bolts off the stator side of the motor, now from what i can see the left case SHOULD pop off? am i right? the crank is rusted solid in the sucker and i think that the rust on the crank bearing/crank is holding the sucker togeather tight....i have taken most of the clucth side apart and dont see why the cases shouldnt come apart, all that is left on the clutch side is the shift drum 1 shift drum idle and the litte thing that has 2 screws on it and is under the shift drum...1 screw striped out and is bein a butthead  also any suggestions to getting the cases split nice with the rusted crank would be much appreciated becuse it looks like its not gona come easy...have soaked it in liquid wrench soo....anyways THANKS :D :beer

Well, if you have all the correct bolts out, in theory it should pop apart (never that easy, come on now).. If you wanna do it the redneck way.. you say the crank is rusted? if the crank is trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro you can just get out the torch and heat up the bearings and pound the side of the crank and make the cases come apart (if the crank is allready junk that is, DO NOT do that if you want to use the crank).. Now if you want to do it the correct way, get a case splitter and heat up the crank as you work it. NEVER pry apart cases!!
heh, will much figured what you said...but what are the's cases splitters i keep hearing about ?
anyone got a picture and where it go's to split em?
