this has probably been asked before but if i am going to install a 200x front on a 85 250sx what needs to be changed on the bike. do i have to change the fork mounts or are they good to go? will the shocks from the x slide in the factory sx stuff. i need to know fast cause my shock, axle bolt and brake backing blew apart when tried to separate. i can get used from wreckers but i would like to change over to the 200x if i am going to spend the dough anyway.

if i were you i would get some 84 250r forks thier cheap and thier bigger and longer than 200x forks.200x forks just seem to small atleast on the 86-87.

I have not yet heard of anyone putting any R forks on an SX... not sure why exactly.
Do all the R's have front disk brakes?

X forks are the best upgrade. X forks are plenty tall enough, R forks make your SX look like a chopper.
Lots of forks slide in the SX triple clamp. Then you have no front brake unless you can make some spacers up and run a X front hub and wheel with a disc brake. There are no provisions on an X or R front fork to run the SX drum brake.
You need to use the triple clamps from the X and those clamps cannot use the SX frame stop and will allow your forks to smash into your tank.
A 200X stop needs to be welded onto the SX frame for the conversion to work correctly.
