....my friend gave me a complete cr250 top end, it was mid-eighties and i said sure why not...i didnt see it but he said it was iron bore, and i know there was only a year or two they had iron bore and i thought one of them was the year i could use on my 85 R....wrong! it was one of those crazy octagon shaped cylinders and obviously wouldnt fit.....so i took everything off it(it cam with the intake still on it with the heads stripped out), i just put the balls to the screws with a newer screwdriver and they came out...i ffigured i might be able to use the manifold for my R to put a 38 on...the 38 fit on the manifold nice, but the "neck" of the manifold was about an inch longer than my R manifold...so i looked at the reeds, i figured they were stock...nothing special.....i flipped them over to look at the carb side and this crazy blue reed stuffer came out....i looked on the internet for a while until i saw a picture of the fmf ram valve....it was the same as mine! so i check to see if it would fit on my R, and its the same exact bolt pattern and it fits like a glove....so my question to you guys is...is this reed cage anything wirth putting on my bike? i already have boyesen pro series reeds in my stock cage...

also, the cage and reeds are in good condition, no cracks or anything....

The reed stuffer is supposed to smooth out the airflow to allow more air to flow. I have an FMF ram valve on my 250R & I like it, but there is a lot of newer technology out there these days, whether or not it's better technology, I don't know.

do you keep the stuffer in? i talked to the tech guy at nacs earlier and he said that you can take it out or more top end, which is what i want more of...

I've never tried that. I've always run it with the stuffer in. I know it won't hurt anything to remove it though.
