What are the differences in the 85 and 86 bearing carriers?....i thought that it was just the inside diameters that were different, but i was talking to a friend last night and he said that the outside diameters are different and the swingarms as well so the carriers would fit properly..i was always led to believe that it was only the inside diameter that was different and that the swingarms are interchangable....

It's the oustide diameters. You can't swap an 85 carrier into any other newer R swingarm.

the carries diameter is different, the side spacing is different,,, the 85 has a thin ring to adjust the chain easy to mess up ,, they made it thicker on the 86 which moved the axle over . so the sprocket location is different also,,, thats why the 85 sprocket is different than the 86 ,,, all the 85 stuff is one year ,,,and as mentioned before will not interchange with 86 or newer,,,

Does that also mean I can't take my chrome axle on my 85 and put it on my 86?

my adjustment ring isnt very small...i can adjust it pretty easy, but its aftermarket, RAD bearing carrier....i might be getting an entire 86 chassis with a swinger so i might need to get an axle and bearing carrier too i guess....

No kiddin???? I was always under the impression that nothing on the 85' rear end would interchange!

You learn somethin' new every day!

As far as I know, they use the same bearings and seals, but the carrier size is different. I'm pretty sure the axles interchange.

all ATC250R's, 350X's, TRX250R's, 300EX's, and 400EX's use the same axle bearing kits.
