well.... X vs R means R has reverse. The last letter is usually the model year.

K =83, L=84, N=85 .... S I think was the Special edition in 86 else, they skipped to S for that year. (like they skipped over 'M' in 85)

About all I know offhand.... might look up in my Yamaha Service Manual that covers all the 225 and 200E models for more details
