I am trying to fine tune the carb on my 1981 ATC200 and I found out I do not have the original carb on it. There is supposed to be the PC35C and I have the PD55C...should I set the card up according to the PC55C specifications (main jet and needle jet) or should I use the settings of the original carb? They look identical so I hope the different models are interchangable. Any info would be appriciated. Thanks.
Mark.

I failed to mention that the original carb uses a 105 main and the PJ55C calls for a 95 main jet.

I think I would go with settings from the original carb since they are richer.
Always better to run the motor on the rich side a bit and work your way down to a leaner condition (not too lean though!) then to start out lean and work your way up.
Since the 55C has a leaner main jet I suspect (a wild guess) it came off a machine with a smaller air box or at least one that didn't direct the air quite as well into the carb as yours.
Easy enough to change the jets without removing the carb though. Isn't that correct? Most times you can just turn it sideways to get at the bowl screws for jet replacement but not always.
