top dead center on 83 200E

I changed the rings on my 83 honda 200E and was wondering how do I find top dead center because I can't get the thing started! Also I was wondering if I can put silicone on the valve cover or do I have to get a gasket. I did not get the book yet and I was wonndering if anyone out there could help me out Thanks...

i believe i replied to this on how to do your timing if thats what you're talking about. its in the post- timing 1983 200e

you have to open the the cap on the the bottom left side ,turn the fly wheel until the "T" mark lines up with the mark in the whole,and i used silicone on the valve cover it worked great,i hopethis helps........svo58
