200es cdi same as 200s,200x and 185?

Moved to Trikeslyvania, and I dont believe so. 185/200s/200es have a square plug and the 200x has a round one.

Hmmm...Could swore my 200x had a round type plug in on it. Maybe its been the wrong one ever since I've owned it. Heh weird. Service manual knows best!

hey, 84 200x has a round plug, got one right here in my hand.

It's not always shape of plug it's whats internal. The 200es is the same as 84 trx200 and 85 trx125 and thats all. I need one for my trx200 so i've been looking. When you look it up through Honda those three are the same. I know the round plug 200s is different internally and different part number. The reason I was figuring they were different internally is by the different part numbers and the way clymer says to test them. The 200s has some extra tests required to check the status of the cdi. If anyone knows any different for sure let me know that would give me the option to use a 200s cdi. According to bike bandit 171982-001 is for 200e, 171988-001 is for trx200- trx125 and 200es, 171987-001 is for 200s and 200m. :confused:

Whilst we are on this subject, can anyone tell me if the spark advancer for the 200 ES can be obtained from any other similar motor, I am struggling to find one second hand and the new ones are quite expensive here (South Africa!)
