Ok my 84 200X is making a tapping noise from what sounds like the exhaust valve and i know its from the valves because i used the screw driver tecnique to find it. Well i adjusted the valves today and its still making the tapping noise. Im starting to think that the rocker arm is goin bad or is bad. I looked at an engine manual my dad had in tech school and its got 2 explanations for the damage. 1 is a Spalled rocker arm from heavy load and repeated contact between moving parts. 2 is poor lubrication of the rocker arm tip. Im thinking explanation 1 is the problem because i got very good lubrication in the head. Can anyone explain this.

Check your cam chain tension or maybe the slider for the cam chain is worn. Otherwise remove the rockers and inspect for wear. They do make a little bit of noise and that is normal.

Alternatively get a louder muffler :naughty:

Lol i got a super loud pipe on there now and i can still hear it. ALso i just replaced the cam chain and tensioners so they are good and i also tightened them.

Its where you put the handle to your ear and the tip to the motor and listen for unuasual noises.
