it starts good, idles fine but i can only go half throttle before it starts shooting fire out the tailpipe. at first i thught the carb was choking it out, but i switched it and still have the same problem. my guess is electrical but i dont know where to start. someone help! :Bounce

I know it doesn't have a rev limiter, so why does it act like it does?

P.S. I also need a brake lever(and reservoir) for the x. and a front fender too.

thats not good. Check ures valves, cams, and if its runnign WAY to rich. Maybe its running so rich when it fires it puts to much gas in there and it flows past the cynlinder SO much instead of smoking it flames. I dont know.

350X doesn't have a rev limiter in the CDI. This is why a lot of 4 wheeler racers would use the 350X CDI in their quads.

I have a 350X with a similar problem, the bike starts good, idles fine, but wont rev up, it just seems to stall, and back fires some, its not the carb, i thought it was electrical and i still do, i first replaced the CDI, that wasnt the problem, then checked the coil and wire and plug, their fine, the next place im suspecting is the stator or the impulse pick up, its gotta be one of those im thinking, after verifying that the problem isnt a cam or valve problem, like i did, because i did suspect that as well, i would then check the stator or pulse input first, go the other way than i did, also did this happen suddenly? what were the circumstances? In my case the bike was running perfect then went to stop, then to take off and the bike wouldnt rev up, it was completely sudden, also to add to the other topic, i think my 2006TRX400EX has a rev limiter, and the CDI on the TRX wont work on the 350X or visa versa, i've checked, so i dont know what quads would run with a 350X CDI, i think those are pretty particular to a particular bike, or motor. besides they sell rev boxes, pretty cheap

i had a similar problem like that after mine sat for a year. it was the cdi, but since you replaced it i'd try the stator next. also they don't have rev limiters, and the 400ex and 300ex cdi'ss won't work since they're DC systems.
