Does anyone know how to decode a YAMAHA vin number or more importantly work out the ninth diget, whats happened is my headlamp brocket has been bent on my TRI-Z and I'm trying to register it for the road over here in the uk and to do this i need the vin number, the headlamp must of been bent for some time as it has eaten away the 9th and 10th diget of the vin, so I cant tell what they were, ive been to yamaha uk today (useless) and theyve helped me work out the tenth diget (F) which means its a 1985, but for the 9th number theres a calculation of the whole vin number to work it out, only yamaha uk couldnt fin the info needed to do it. please help. ive found the way the honda ones are worked out but this isn't the same.

uhhhh all my bikes have vin's trikefarmer.....most people try not to buy them if the vins have been destroyed or altered, since that is illegal.

sorry i haven't got a camara, the vin number what i can see is JY338W00_F0013360 I was told by yamaha that the 9th number is 0-9 or an X and is a check number to verify the others its worked out by a mathmatical sum using all the other letters and numbers,
