I have a 200e big red I just got going. When I turn the headlight on it is real dim and gets dimmer when I rev it. It is elecric start and is suppose to have a battery but doesn't. My question is will that effect the light. I was assuming that if the alternator was working properly it would have enough power to light the light. En"lighten" me. Thanks Rod

The absence or presence of a battery should NOT affect it. My atc 200s has elec start and I do not use it, there is no battery, and the headlight brightens with the increased RPM. Perhaps it's a polarity problem or something. Your situation is the first I heard of something like that. Interesting......?????

My 125m has the same problem. It has electric start too, but in the winter when i dont run w/ the battery i notice that the lights dim too when i rev it or start moving. It doesnt do this with the battery though...

Runs perfectly. Plenty of power. Odd that the light dims when rpm's increase. It never is bright barely glows even low rpm's.

Gotta read up on my manual .. but i think trikes with batteries have " Voltage Regulators " to permit the battery to charge and lights to work, but not exceed a certain voltage when you rev high and damage the battery..

Don't take my word on any of that, but i'll read up on it tomorrow when i get my manual in hand.

I believe only the 200es has voltage regulator.

Looking at the wiring diagram from this site I would say that you need the battery to run the light. It does have a voltage regulator shown, you are probably getting a dim light from a voltage leak somewhere. Just my 2 cents
