My tank valve (petcock) wont stop leaking. I put a new o ring in it and it didnt help so I thought Id try some goop. Just need to know what kind to use. Any ideas?

I sprayed a little WD-40 around it and used my hand to kinda hit the switch in a little , it will stop but if you dont ride for a while it will come back.

Already tried that, also its missing the lever its just broken off, The real only way this one can be fixed is some sort of sealant that wont get eaten away.

go to the store and gewt sum teflon tape. u wouldnt think it would hold up to gas but when u put it around the threads it makes a nice seal mine hasnt leaked in years

What type of bike is it? My 87 Tecate tank valve was leaking also. In the end I had to replace the packing where the tap assy joined the tank and also the packing inside the valve. Like yourself I replaced the O-Ring inside the valve at first but that wasn't the problem.
Is it a plastic tank?
